Morning folks,

Been looking at getting a new car as the old one is unfortunately seeing it's age!

I do about 6-7k miles a year give or take so looking for something smart under £4000 that will do the job!

Very much into the idea of a Seat or Toyota/Mitsubishi/Honda. Has anyone got any comments on an 08 plate Seat Ibiza Sport 1.4? Seem to have good reviews overall, but personal opinions very much welcome!

Due the to mileage, petrol makes most sense and 3dr is preferable, although not a requirement!

Cheers,

P

Are you looking at the new or the old shape Ibiza for that money?

If I were you, I'd be looking at the new one, rather than the old.

Not 100% relevant as neither of us have the 1.4 petrol, but my wife's got a 12 plate FR with the 2 litre TDi engine & I've got the previous shape Sport with the 130 1.9 TDi engine.

The newer model is a much more pleasant place to be. It handles better than mine, feels nicer to drive and has better ride quality. Hers also has MP3 compatible stereo with a USB input (we've put a memory stick into hers with a ton of albums on) and Bluetooth phone connection - not sure if that's only on the higher spec models?
The boot is quite small though - I think it's just the depth of the boot compared to mine, but you seem to be able to get a lot more into the boot of my car, than hers.

If it were me, I'd be trying to get one with climate control, over standard air-con.

Plenty of choice in the small car market though - I'd also have a look at the Ford Fiesta, Toyota Yaris, Honda Jazz and see how they compare.

EDIT - One more thing - on the older model (the one I've got) the doors are very long & only have two opening stops; a bit too narrow & fully open. They are a real pain in tight car parks. The newer one has a more 'stop' positions & it makes a real difference.

I'd get a nice Panda 100hp and probably a bit of change too. Lots of fun, economical well equipped and practical.
