Hi,

I want to get my daughter a watch for her 10th birthday, that:

Isnt too big on her little wrist
Tracks steps
Does some basic smart watch things
Costs less than £75 ish
Decent battery life
Waterproof

Her younger sister has a Garmin Vivofit Jr 3 which is great, it takes a coin battery so lasts a year without charge, is waterproof, nice and small, counts steps, fair price, but its just a little bit too babyish.

Anyone have any recommendations please?

Is built in (rechargeable) battery an option?

If not, similar to what you have, albeit a refurb for £50:

Thanks Andrew, hadnt spotted that one.

It looks like most options are built in rechargable batteries, so yeah, happy to explore that.

Any other thoughts please?

At the moment looks like either the Vivofit 4 or Vivosmart 4.

I've got a VivoSmart4, does what I need it to do, the battery lasts a week ish then needs a charge.
Do check the size as I, a fully grown male, wear the small/medium sized version.

A Mickey/mini mouse analogue watch surely. What 10yearold needs to know their step count. They're little calories burners at that age aren't they?

Amazfit look good but dont do anything in small sizes.

Josh, get your point, but having a device that does more / is interesting inspires them to look at it more, not just for fitness benefits, but getting confident in telling the time, developing comfort in understanding large numbers (eg number of steps), being able to spy on their sleep patterns, being objective in negotiating bed times and the amount of sleep they need and motivating them to do more steps is never bad. All that certainly doesnt hurt.
