Hi All,

Looking for recommendations/rough idea on price for smart glass suppliers.

We're having some building work done later this year and the rear of the kitchen will be bi-fold doors. One idea for some privacy in the evening is smart glass.

I'm NW based, does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks,

Stu.

I'm just buying 3 sets of bifolds from Haus in Warrington who seem OK - not sure that they do smart glass though. How about built in blinds?

One idea for some privacy in the evening is smart glass.

Add about 1-300% to your cost, depending on panel size.

Priced up one supplier (I forget who), found it to be about £15k for a 3.5m bifold.

We're going to get some smart blinds instead* - will have the benefit of partial shading etc over the on/off nature of the glass too.

* still not cheap...

Don’t do it - it’ll go wrong in a year or so and then it’ll cost another fortune!
I make (a lot) of bifold doors, I don’t make any with smart glass in. I have made a few windows, they’ve worked fine, for a year or so! Get some blinds if you’re worried or wear pants and chill out!
I have a 6m set of bifold along the back of my house. I’m not really overlooked but anyone could come and have a look in. I’m simply not bothered

Oh yes, cost wise, about £1k / m2 extra

+1 blinds.

The smart glass option is an expensive, unreliable fad.
