Small tool box with drawers question

I'm after a small Toolbox with a couple of drawers.  It's to store the eyepieces and othe bits for my telescopes, transport them,  make grabbing the right one (in a dark field) easier,  and if it's tough enough to allow one of my kids to stand on it (to reach the ep in the scope) that is great, but not essential.   I'm looking at things like this from Halfords

https://search.app?link=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.halfords.com%2Ftools%2Fstorage%2Ftool-chests-and-cabinets%2Fhalfords-3-drawer-metal-portable-tool-chest-175935.html%3FistCompanyId%3Db8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e%26istFeedId%3D367c5610-f937-4c81-8609-f84582324cd6%26istItemId%3Drlxwa%26istBid%3Dt%26%26_%24ja%3Dtsid%3A%257Ccid%3A17363835999%257Cagid%3A%257Ctid%3A%257Ccrid%3A%257Cnw%3Ax%257Crnd%3A14279064708870820278%257Cdvc%3Am%257Cadp%3A%257Cmt%3A%257Cloc%3A1002316%26gad_source%3D1%26gclid%3DCjwKCAiA0rW6BhAcEiwAQH28IihGBJsB8CGzrtjQV3LFJpMTRRFJ-MQ8ddGs8OiA1Vlv04zFrFnsOhoCbUMQAvD_BwE%26gclsrc%3Daw.ds&utm_campaign=aga&utm_source=agsadl2%2Csh%2Fx%2Fgs%2Fm2%2F4

Bit bigger then I need but then. ... I tend to acquire more bits so

Or smaller is

Or various others like

https://search.app?link=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.screwfix.com%2Fp%2Fmagnusson-stakkur-2-drawers-21-34-%2F261HE%3Fgclsrc%3Daw.ds%26gad_source%3D1%26gclid%3DCjwKCAiA0rW6BhAcEiwAQH28Ij9f3TfIvkTrtjR68_irR4TBxW3E1auIP0PEOEKje1w1_axKlu-47BoCkSYQAvD_BwE%26gclsrc%3Daw.ds%23product_additional_details_container&utm_campaign=aga&utm_source=agsadl2%2Csh%2Fx%2Fgs%2Fm2%2F4

My problem is most descriptions are missing the drawer depth.   It needs to be at least 6cm to fit the eye pieces which are basically a barrel of that diameter and up to 12.5cm long.

Something big enough to store 10 eye pieces, ideally space for 12 and some filters/odds and sods.

So have you gents got something along these lines and if so,  could you check the depth of the drawers before recommendation/suggestions?  Thanks very much indeed.

I have the first one on your list. The internal drawer depth (height) is only 5cm, 19cm front to back.

I doubt you'll find the depth you need, plus those metal ones will not be great for standing on.

How about a decent plastic one with a top opening and then put some shadow foam in there to organise the lenses (perhaps vertically)

Yeah I'd agree with above. A regular Systainer type box then add shadow/pluck foam.

You don't want to be lugging one of those metal things about. I have one that I got from Machine Mart and now and again I pull it out from under the stairs and a drawer slides open, even though they're supposed to be locked with the lid shut.

They come in different depths too depending on your needs.

Cheers,  the Halfords one is off the list,  ta.

Agree plastic slightly preferable. Lugging about is an issue but since a couple of telescopes, a tripod and mount are already sizeable i use a small trolley.

Storing them vertically doesn't work well though... they are long things and dust caps on each end will pull off and be a faff to fish out a deep hole ( I intend to use foam in whatever I get).

Depth is the issue, 6cm is I think a wee bit deeper than many of these small drawered boxes.  Hmm, search continues. Ta

Ooo, just seen screwfix have a blackfriday deal on Dewalt stake so a single deep drawer unit is down to £25.... 2 times that is more than I'd wanted to pay but I believe the stake stuff is excellent. I may be ordering 2 of these before midnight

What you need is a 50cal ammo box.

Um... Obviously the 50 bit is a slight issue but you get the idea...

Seems ok to be stood on. Mine was made in 2013 though so there might be a difference in the current build quality?

I recently bought some keter boxes, stack n roll stuff that seems ok as well. Bought from Wickes on offer.

The einhell boxes I think you could tread on? I bought a small folding step to tread on instead of my tool boxes!

Thanks retro!  10cm, ample.   I think I've seen YouTubes comparing stake to systainer and so on and they are well thought of so I'm confident they will be more than adequate... and on sale they don't seem to costly.   Prefect
