Most recently sitting in the sunshine watching a rather lovely blackbird hunting worms on my lawn. I was quite lost in time watching him.

The anticipation of the regular Friday farmyard in a bun at my work.
The food is great but the anticipation is better.

Watching our 'local' pair of Buzzards circling over the house.
My cat rolling in the spring sunshine on the warm decking boards in the garden.
A nice hot bath after a long , cold, wet ride on the bike.
A pint of truly good ale. *
The almost imperceptible green hue , as the buds on the trees in the forest begin to sprout in spring.

* may occasionally be in the plural.

EDIT..Oh ....and just one Avid JuicyThree brake, which has thrown convention to the wind and performed faultlessly for 7 years.

Letting rip an absolutely enormous rasping fart that sounds like someone slowly tearing a heavy velvet curtain. I've just done this now*. You won't believe how pleased with myself I am 😀

* yes... everyone else is out for the night

Waking my 4 year old daughter up in the morning ,with her bedhead hair and confused look on her face always brings a smile ,

The other is the sound of nothing when your sat ontop of a moor in the middle of know where before the giddiness

'"Well," said Pooh, "what I like best," and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.'

Waking up and realising that it's OK to go back to sleep.
Being outside in foul weather but warm and dry.
Hearing a song I like but had forgotten about.
Spending time with my little boy. It happens every day but I could never tire of it.

Having a proper laugh with (& at, at the same time) my mates.
A genuine smile on Mrs. P's face - its been a pretty crap few months and seeing her smile always does it for me.
Pulli into the drive on a Friday evening after another nightmare week in the office.
Dust thrown up off the trails by the bike in front.
The Gruffalo.

New Good Quality Socks
A Bacon sandwich.
Ale in a pub with nothing to do and nowhere to be.
above but with mates.
A smile and kind word from someone.
That increasingly small bit of a ride after warming up and before feeling shagged
The feeling after a long ride when you've got changed into fresh cotton clothes.
Cycling through pools of warm and cool air.
Sitting on the bottom of a shallow still sea looking at the surface above.

Getting into bed with clean sheets after having a shower
The clump of snowdrops that popped up by our front door
Having a chilled out fluffy cat purring on my knee
Being able to ride my bike again after major surgery to my spine (maybe that's a big thing actually)

1. Riding bikes
2. Sitting in the cafe stop last Sunday on our club run and realising there were more cyclists in there than 'normal' people - by some margin
3. Spring weather - sunshine, blossom and birds singing
4. Living in the first world and having enough of the basics sorted to be able to appreciate these things
5. STW, for giving me a sense of perspective on all sorts of things 🙂

Ignoring all the family and bike stuff, at the moment the small thing is probably coming up with an amusing mnemonic or roman room type of thing for the exams I am studying for.

The smell of a mown lawn, a glass of beer by the log fire after a winter ride, standing on one of the local hills in wild weather but the best of all is any time spent with my two boys.

Putting my 8 year old to bed earlier, and leaving the curtains open whilst I lay next to him with his head on my chest, talking about the moon that we where watching together... until he fell asleep. Relaxing bliss and it won't be like that forever, he'll grow up one day.

Baking bread.

The satisfaction of having learned how to do something new.

A perfectly true wheel and knowing that you made it that way (though this hasn't happened for a while)

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. Er, nope
Bright copper kettles. Still nope.
Warm woollen mittens. Yes, now we're getting somewhere.
Brown paper packages tied up with strings. Yes, especially if they come from CRC. ??

Sliding into an empty pool lane after a hard day. Or any kind of day for that matter.

Spooning in warm bed on cold morning

Hearing our little dog snoring

Hearing children's laughter

Seeing my wife's smile

Blackbird evensong

Sound of rain on a tent

That high-up sound a buzzard makes

Making that one rare, almost accidental brush-stroke that lights up a painting

4. Living in the first world and having enough of the basics sorted to be able to appreciate these things

Just reminded me of a documentary I saw recently on Netflix about happiness/appreciation. Now known to me as 'The Day I was Humbled Beyond Words By A Rickshaw Driver.'
