I'm sure I read something years ago about these small towels with the drying ability of a big towel!!! WOW!

Anyway do these exist and do they work? Who sells them? Thanks

I got a trekmates one, works well, more like a chamois than a towel though, needs washed frequently if you have to store it damp (eg cycle touring).

We got some karrimor ones like this:

It is true what they claim - you can use it, wring it out and use it again - ok so it's not quite so good the second time but still pretty effective.

Much better than the older viscose style ones - those really didn't pick up moisture well from your skin.

Wouldn't be without one, even if car camping.. beats soggy hard-to-dry cotton.

trekmates ones are PISH - cheap for a reason

lifeventure - similar

mrs had both in nz and neither lasted any time at all despite being propperly dried after every use and washed regularly they began to stink badly and not actually work to dry you - i spent twice as much on a paramo one - and still have it 2 years later in regular use - its actually amaizing

They work but take ages to dry so end up stinking really quickly. I worked out years ago you're much better off with a cotton sarong (Indonesian batik ones are the best). If you're travelling superlight cut it in half and get it hemmed.

Work as well as the 'tech' towels and dry much quicker. Much more flexible as well - i've used them as a sheet, scarf and you can change under them in a public place as well.

I have a couple of different ones a trekmates and a lifeadventure one - the trekmates is amazing for something so tiny and contrary to the experiences above I had no issues with them stinking or disintegrating.

I do however dry it on the outside of my pack after usage. i find the trekmates one I can wring out to almost dry then a couple of hours ont he outside of the pack / pannier bag and its dry

Not mine.

There must be a few different kinds around. I'd not use cotton.

I have an MSR one that dries amazingly quickly, also a Lifeventure one which is more like a real towel but bulkier and takes longer to dry than the MSR one. Still miles better than regular towel for camping though.
