Was listening to the Editors last night and on one track there is backing vocals from Rachel Goswell from Slowdive.
It made me want to have a listen to Slowdive to check them out but where is best to start ?
Older stuff better than new stuff or vice versa ?
Souvlaki.
If you like them I'd always urge giving the Pale Saints a try. Best band you've never heard of (though 6music occasionally play one or two of theirs. Comforts of Madness being the high water mark)
Lust and Learn for me.
There’s a track called St Louis which is just amazing. Even though it’s named after that worst city in Missouri.
The eponymous album "Slowdive" in 2017/8? is really good
Play "Star Roving", turn it up to 11
"Sugar for the Pill" is just lovely
People who like Slowdive should also check out Galaxie 500.
But then they probably already knew that.
Original 3 albums are all great, in their own way. Personally, I prefer Just For a Day and Pygmalion.
Slowdive (the album) was ok, but not up there with the 90's stuff in my opinion. It wasn't bad as such, just the sound didn't seem to have evolved much. It sounded a bit like a slowdive mashup, where the original 3 albums all had their own distinct sound.
Sugar for the Pill is great.
I've worked with Rachel Goswell on her recent project The Soft Cavalry - we did the videos. It's a very varied album.
The connection is also a mate of mine who is brother to one of the members of Editors. They all worked together with Rachel in a super group called Minor Victories.
That's a good album too.
@rone cheers for the heads up on Minor Victories. How have I never heard of them before !!!
