I have some Ecco ones which were pretty excellent but they don't do them anymore.

Whatever you do don't get the Mahabis ones that they advertise on Facebook all the time, although the more expensive ones might be a little better.

The normal ones are grey felt which fluffs up and looks rubbish in no time, the neoprene heel caps are rubbish and serve no purpose, and the attachable soles don't attach very well and risk coming off and tripping you up.

Class Internet 'shiny' marketing.

Crocs with the furry lining. Obviously this choice will go down badly with proper slipper aficionados, but they are ideal for nipping outside for small jobs when swapping from slippers to shoes would be overkill.

£12 at Asda. Fur lined and pretty warm on my drafty floor. Just make sure you buy the size that feel too small, they stretch in a couple of days. These ones felt right but are now too big.

similar and a smidge cheaper are Haflinger slippers.

Crocs are my summer slipper but they are bloody lethal in the wet, especially on kitchen floors.

They are sweaty, don't breathe at all and squash my arches. The CAMPER ones I had before were much better!

I'm a big fan of bedroom athletics harris tweed slippers, have a couple of pairs cosy lining and standard. They last well and you usually get them for under £20 in their near constant 'sale'.

I bought these on Saturday. out of need because I am going in hospital. nice and warm.

Got some a few years ago ( I think after a recommendation off here) and they’re great. Warm, comfy and with the rubber sole, you can take the bins out or whatever and not worry if the ground is wet.

I wasn't fussed by slippers until I was gifted some Homeys. I like.

As P20 said the North Face ones are good, a little expensive (I think I paid £35 for mine) but last, mine are coming up 6 years old and are still going strong.

I have the traction version so I can go outside to put bins out etc, also good for scraping up hair from carpets so the hoover can get it.

+1 for the ASDA mocs.

I specify these every year (wearing them now!) they last a full 12 months and are far superior in quality from anything I have had from Debenhams etc.

Please under no circumstances buy TOTES. They are more than double the prices and very cheaply made from thin material - expect 3 months use at most.

Edit - Yes, I do realise how sad it is to be able to offer advice on slippers.

I think I'll change my log in to the Aldi Marketing Board but I'm currently rocking Aldi Moccasins with Harris tweed details. 7.99.

I had North Face ones and they are roasting, so much so that they were honking and the wife wouldn't even let them in the bedroom at night.

I work from home and my feet under my desk are next to an outside wall therefore warm slippers are essential. I had some leather uggs for several years but they getting a bit sloppy so the cold air is getting in. I've go Mahabis on my Xmas list but maybe I've fallen for the marketing.

My slippers are a pair of 20+ year old Merrell leather trekking sandals. I find the sock/sandal combo works really well..

This thread reminded me I needed to replace my own slippers.

Previous NorthFace mini sleeping bag ones only lasted about a year, as have subsequent M&S / Debenhams ones so I don't know how some get the NF ones to last years !?

So I've just been to Tesco F&F and bought some - the ones that seemed most comfy and not too warm. £8 (although the blue version of the same ones were only £6 but the pair in my size looked a bit rough and my last M&S ones were blue so I thought I'd have a change). Soles seem OK enough to nip to the bin etc.

Crocs Mammoth seconded. No side holes like standard Caymans, so good for a quick forray outside; rubbish out, nipping to the shops etc. Can pop the inners into the washing machine for a freshen up too.

I bought two pairs, one for the wife and one for me.

Wife gave up on them real fast, I persisted for a little while out of stubbornness but they went tatty quickly (felt finish), the heel support was useless, and I nearly broke my toe going upstairs when the attacheable sole came away as I brushed the edge of the step with the front of my foot.

I'm wondering about changing to those NF Traction ones, as my current set of NF tent mules are a year old and I've worn though the base (p20 will now point out that's because I go outside in them...only to tell him dinner is ready whilst he's in the garage...)

Only thing is I don't want something which damages the carpets.

Up until last year I have never ever worn slippers. I had a pair of those weird ripstop Puma Velcro trainers. God, I loved those! The most comfortable footwear ever.

But they were minging! And eventually fell apart. I had a look for another pair, and they’re now some weird retro cool nonsense and were going tor £120 a pair. **** that!

Then I was getting some hiking boots and spotted these

I look proper ‘special’ in them. But, dear god, they’re Uber-comfy and toasty warm. They’re essentially two sleeping bags for your feet

Just got some Teva Ember Mocs which are kind of a slipper / shoe / tent mule hybrid.. so good for wandering in and out of the house. So far, so toasty!

Another vote for Homeys. Just size down as they will stretch. I wasn't fussed about slippers until I was bought some. Super comfy. Soles do wear if you use them outdoors.
