I ordered something online from Spain, which hasn't been sent yet, then got the email below a few days ago. It's a real shop, on street view, with decent reviews. Anyone know if the tax legislation thing is correct? If I send my licence number will I start receiving random Spanish speeding fines or something?

Please, in order to validate the invoice for your order, we need an identity card number, passport number or driving licence number. This is required by Spanish tax legislation for transactions over €3,000.

Once we have received the information, we will send you the full invoice, which is necessary to activate the warranty.

This probably belongs in the 'brexit benefits' thread 🤣

Yep. We have an ID card here, you can't eg buy a car o'r something without it. When I invoice someone here I'm required to put their ID on the invoice for tax purposes (mine). Doesn't affect yours 👍

Nothing to do with brexit, for once
