Hi All, I'm looking to fit a fast rolling tyre to my hardtail for some road riding. Do you have any recommendations or advice for the sizes compatible with 30mm wide rims?

Schwalbe G-One Allround come in loads of different sizes & widths. Since putting them on my gravel/commuter I've not bothered with any other tyre. (Obviously I've changed a few times, but... well, you know, I always replace with the same 😛 )

If you can find some, Marathon Supremes roll well on the road and light dry off-road, I was lucky enough to grab some for ~£30 each from Merlin in late '21.

thanks guys. I assume I can fit a 700c tire to a 29 rim? What is the narrowest tire that I could fit? Would a 700 x 40 fit a 30mm 29 rim?

Are you looking for something that can take a bit of off-road as well?

How about Specialized Pathfinder Pro? Not tried them, but they look like they'd be OK.

I used to use Schwalbe City Jets which were pretty good on the road, but that was on 26" wheels and not sure how wide they go (for a 30mm rim).

If it's just for road, you probably want a full slick

Schwalbe G-One Speed come in 700 x 50mm (29 x 2.0) and 29 x 2.35. The former is tougher I think as it has extra puncture protection under the tread. I had some -- they are lightning fast

Hutchinson Override come in 700 x 45mm, and look good

Gravelking SS some in 700 x 43mm, although are a semi slick. They only do a full slick in 700 x 38 as largest

I wouldn't want anything less than a 45mm on 30mm rims, although the below from WTB suggest 42mm is OK. That's assuming you mean 30mm internal width, right?

p.s. that picture is from here:
https://www.wtb.com/pages/tire-rim-fit-chart#

The squares are 'ideal' combinations, dots are 'compatible', blanks not recommended

And yes: 700c == 29er
