Just cancelled SKY subscription and from what I understand, I can use my old Sky Box to receive the free to air channels know as Sky Freesat!. Seems I could pay Sky another £25 to get a Freesat card which claims to add a few extra channels. Getting an 'accurate' list of what channels are available with and without the card seems somewhat hit and miss, so will wait the 31 days and see what remains once the subscription ends. Then found this ad on Ebay. £1.50 for what I guess are manual tuning frequencies to get the channels that make up the difference between just the box and the Sky Freesat card in the box. But anyone tried this?
I'd be wary, I sold our old Sky box some years back (had the original card in it which continued to give us most channels after the subscription lapsed) and included the card in the listing. Listing got pulled as Sky are very hot on who owns the card, the box may be yours but the cards remain their property. Anything trying to get around that is likely to be dodgy.
