My friend phoned Sky to cancel her movies package and asked if there was anyway too record the movies she had not watched before they disappeared. The agent just said - copy them through the USB port but of course did not explain how. I suspect he was just trying to get her off the line, we've both done web searches and all seems to be a BIG negative. Appears to be there "for future use".
Thought I'd ask the STW massive as the last port of call. Any ideas?
I think she's been lied to. Sorry.
I think there's no way of copying for use without a sky box
there's a programme called copy+ that lets you copy the box's disc contents onto a PC but you can't watch them unless the disc is in a sky box and that box is attached to the sat stream (so when you cancel your subs you lose access to recorded stuff (I think))
if she's still got the sky box can't she attach a usb drive? you can with virgin
On mine you can hit the red button on the planner for 'Copy' (via SCART) ...I remember trying it out years ago to a VCR (!)...It's real time so it's got to be special program to be worth it...I guess instead of a VCR you could play it to some PC capture device if you have the leads etc. (don't think they allow it on Sky Movies)
The USB one has only power and is ok to charge a phone etc but can"t be used for owt else, trust me I've tried.
