Where's the picture? Are there similar patches on the other hand and both feet? If so, see a Catholic priest as that's a powerful juju for making lots of money fast.

Being slightly more helpful, it may be a fungal infection.
Looks similar to something my other half had on her hand. Atheletes foot cream might sort it, but I'd recommend going to the docs and getting it looked at, rather than take the word of a random non-doctor on the internet.

Actually try your pharmacist first - they can diagnose and prescribe for easy stuff like fungal infections or impegito.

I did go to my GP, hence the POM speroid cream (Momatosone). He thought it was eczema.

I will make an appointment as it's not resolving.

That is a verrucca or wart.

I had similar on my hand for ages,my gp wasn't helping and then a different gp I met on a ski trip said instantly 'wart'.

I zapped it with some ointment that dries over the 'thing' and takes off the skin layer, removing the gubbins underneath that caused the problem. Not painful but took several applications of the ointment. I got the cream from a pharmacist who was very useful

If you're proper worried and it doesn't clear up, I'd go back to your GP and see if you can get a referral to a specialist. My local practice runs a regular skin clinic with a visiting dermatologist that I was referred to when I had an odd growth on my neck that my GP didn't know what it was. Ended up having a biopsy which confirmed that although they still didn't know what it was, it wasn't malignant.

Palm abrasions do seem to heal slowly, I copped some gravel rash on the heel of my palm after tripping up running and it took around two months to properly heal up and looked quite like your pic, but more than a year seems excessive.

You picked it up whilst gardening? That would make a fungal infection a possibility. Plus it's dry and you've had it a long time. I would suggest going to the GP and getting a skin scraping sent off to The Lab for fungal culture.

The treatment for most fungal infections is the same, but it takes a long time so it's good to have the cultures done to make sure that's what's causing the trouble. Plus you might have something a bit more unusual rather than the usual toe nail culprits so that'll cheer up the fungi nerd in your local lab 😜

Probably just the opening stages of some ghastly Cronenbergesque transformation. Pop into the bathroom and check for any other unusual changes.

Get some liquid nitrogen, whiskey and a pen knife. Drink half the bottle of whiskey, freeze it using the liquid nitrogen and dig it out. Pour the rest of the whiskey on the wound.

Try immersing your hand(s) in a basin of warm, salty water (table salt is fine), for twenty minutes a day for the next fortnight and see how you get on.

Palmar psoriasis. Have had it on both palms for years. It’s the skin growing and replacing too fast and forming a hard crust. Mine cracks when bad and can be painful. It’s why I always wear gloves to cycle.

I have a steroid ointment that is horrible but includes salicylic acid to help break through the harder layer. When bad I smother the palms with the ointment and wear white cotton gloves in bed overnight. Normal steroid cream does not really do much.

Shown no sign of going for the past seven years. I’ve always had psoriasis, never bad, but this is an inconvenience.

BTW my palms are both pretty much completely covered with lesion. On a good day the patches are about 10 square cm. On a bad day there is blood in the cracks and it spreads around the thumbs and fingers as the hands shed skin so fast.

Not sure myself it's blue waffle might be worth the op looking into it though.

Oh and one tip, check your nails for any aigna of small pitting or ridges. This is a giveaway for psoriasis. If it is psoriasis, you may see a ridge across a nail form and grow out. Known as Beau’s lines.

Yep, a good give away. Thankfully mine's cleared up a lot, I did a course of light therapy that cleared it all up and it's only really developed slightly on my shins and scalp again.
Best thing I've used is Enstilar foam, brilliant stuff and the only thing that's really worked other than light therapy.
