So.... being currently unemployed and footloose and fancy free and a keen snowboarder.... it has occurred to me that I could work for the ski season in France. The reason I put France is that I can speak a few words of the language... but not much. Anyone know the best websites for chalet assistants/ seasonal jobs like this or can offer any further advice?
Pretty sure that http://www.natives.co.uk/ was the starting place, assume it still is.
I helped start that.
Prob bit late for this season, unless you find somewhere that's has already sacked someone, but they tend to have reserves lined up
I thought natives died about three years ago? The season is underway, most seasonal staff went out for training several weeks ago. Worth asking still though, try over on Snowheads, or go direct to the bigger tour ops as it's almost certain they'll already have lost some staff for whatever reason
A long while back I found myself in the same situation as you, and was in France, with a job, within a week.
Staff leave all the time, so get applying.
Inghams gave me a chalet host job a few years back about now so I'd try them, did a phone interview and a little test and I was sent a plane ticket and off I went a few days later. Some of the larger companies will be struggling as staff find they can't hack it.
I'm almost tempted to go myself again.

Yup, especially if conditions are pish
Go for it, what have you got to lose ? Have a friend that signed up for a winter season then ended up working for the company in the summer too. A few years of hard work and a lot of fun.
Stevo of White Room posts here, he may have contacts for you.

Cool.
no snow in france at all since 20th december.. i reckon you d be better off selling ice creams..
Indeed no snow in most of France I live there we went to Andorra to be able to ski a bit in the end. Pyrenees almost snow free french side. My buddies in the alps picking flowers at almost 2000m on MTB rides
Pyrenees almost snow free french side
Friends of mine have a house close to Andorra in the French Pyrenees. They were walking yesterday at 2300m in trainers on summer walking routes !
Any good with a snow cannon?
Still a few jobs going in Morzine if that would work - join the "morzine crew talk to me" FB group and ask in there if you're interested...
You could apply here, or if you have funds just go over and ask about. As mentioned above, seasonal staff leave all the time and there's a high turnover.
My mate did it once, did the whole season. Had a particularly bad stack, came back with a massive scar on his knee and a *very* hot girlfriend...
Stayed in the business too, is now snow sports manager for Head.
