I know there are Mando/Andor/Ahsoka/Boba Fett (maybe not)/Acolyte (probably not) fans on here.  Anyone else watched the 1st 2 of Skeleton Crew yet?

I watched both last night and really enjoyed them, although clearly more aimed at kids, they seem well written and directed - something many of the other series have misfired with.

No surprises that it's basically Goonies in space, but I've no problem with that, and it mostly had that cosy Amblin entertainment feel to it.  There were some callbacks to the main films/shows but they were mostly nice and subtle rather than lit with a big neon sign saying "HEY LOOK, WE'RE DOING THAT THING!!  YOU KNOW, THAT THING YOU ALL LIKE!!!" like they usually do.

Anyone else delved into it yet?

I have to admit I didnt even know it was starting. Saw a few things about it over the last few months but not really paid much attention.

Thats something I never thought id say for Star Wars

I'm waiting for Andor series two, and sort of hoping (against recent history) that they've not ****ed about with it too much.

As for the wider "universe" I'm entirely mleh about the TV shows that seem to have been released in a "Throw enough crap at the wall to see which ones work, and which ones don't" way and TBH, most of them suck balls. I'm aware that largely "officially" the audience is children, but at the same time, Lucasfilm are aware of the age ranges of their audiences and who's actually watching, and while I tend to try to ignore the howls from the basement dwelling white middle aged incel crowd who viscerally hate everything that Disney do: Just Because. They are sadly right in that the actual output has nevertheless been overall; a bit shit. They're wrong about the reasons why the series are shit but still, you can't deny the bad writing and barely visible plots.

I only caught wind of it last night, by dint of Nick Frost voicing one of the droids. Looks interesting.

Watched the first one last night with my 10 year old daughter and 12 year old son. They are both fully invested already.

They are young enough to not be infected by the life changing experience that I had at 7 years old watching the first one in the cinema so its nice to get a genuine, uncoloured view of whether they think the latest raft of offerings are any good to them.

He plays a pirate droid called SM33 (or Smee for Peter Pan fan 🙂 )

Anyone else still watching this?  I've been really enjoying it so far, it's the final episode next week, looking forward to how they wrap it all up.

Watched as soon as it came out and we've really enjoyed it so are looking forward to next weeks finale. I watch all the Star Wars stuff regardless of reviews; my previous watch being the Acolyte which did take a while and was a bit of a struggle to keep going with to be honest but Skeleton Crew has been a delight in comparison. Neel & SM33 are already legends in our house

I've quite enjoyed all the TV series. Switch your mind off, accept and enjoy the universe that's been created. I quite enjoy the development of the galaxies and the character development that isn't always jedi.

I've been enjoying watching it with Funk Jr. Just a really fun little series. The Acolyte was awful and even Funk Jr didn't like it, ditto with the Obi-wan and Boba Fett (shit) shows. We've enjoyed Mando and Ashoka too. I still think Rebels, Andor and the Bad Lip Reading songs are the best things to come out of Star Wars.

Acolyte was classic Stars Wars looked beautiful but he story telling was rubbish. Didnt have high hopes for Skeleton Crew but its been pretty good brains out TV. Haven't seen this weeks been abroad so a nice Friday evening treat if I manage to get home tomorrow.

I've quite enjoyed it, the story bounces along and the young actors are flippin good

Most of the other series I've enjoyed too, especially Andor

Not watched any of the SW universe offshoots, but that’s a clever bit of droid nomenclature. [img] [/img]

This has been a decent series so far. The kids have not been unbearable and Jude Law has hammed his role up nicely. Looking forward to the finale, even if Luke S. isn't likely to turn up to save the day whilst making all the mega fans have a moment.

Andor took a while to get going but did turn out alright. Skeleton Crew has been enjoyable but like the other SW series the recap and credits seems longer than the actual program and the lengths of the episodes seem all over the place.

the lengths of the episodes seem all over the place.

That’s because streamed content doesn’t have to fix in a time slot like the the good old days when they would need something for exactly x mins for a specific viewing slot 🙂

They don't have to cut down an episode or pad one out and can focus on the story telling.

Our whole family has been enjoying it. It's a cheesey kids adventure in space, whats not to like?
