You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Skates to school every day now and is really getting in to it. Practice practice practice I assume but is there a go to vid to help him get that deck in the air?
Remember to drag the front foot, not just jump, it's a 2 step motion, don't just jump straight in the air. It is easier to practice stationary on a rough surface first so the board doesn't run away from underneath you.
And have fun
The trick is timing the tail smack and the pop. lots of kids (mine included) whack the tail and lift the front foot but don't let the back foot come up too. snap the tail down and as you do jump up, levelling the board out by dragging your front foot up the tape. But as you do that you also need to give the tail room to get off the ground. took me AGEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS to learn when I was a teen, but I'm 42 now and I can still pop pretty high. In your face, kids!
This shows it in slow mo, although his style is bit off:
Things have changed since i were a lad. That first tutorial is excellent!
My kid just got his 1st skateboard literally today....
Unfortunately I was never allowed one as a kid (something to do with my predilection for A&E) now he's asking me to show him...
I can snowboard so I'm basically trying to improvise but can't help think I'm telling him incorrectly.
Cheers. Showed him the vid and sent him the link. Let's skate....
My good friend from teens/20s held the World record for ages. Apparently he has lots of 'pop'. Search Danny Wainwright vids on YouTube.
Sorry, nowt to do with Ollies Percy, but you made me all nostalgic 😀
Put the board on grass to learn it. Much easier when you don't have the wheels rolling to put you off.
It is a really really hard trick to learn. Practice practice practice.
