LittleGinge has declared that he would like to learn to skateboard this year. I don’t know anything about skateboards or skateboarding other than a vague memory of loosing quite a bit of skin during a brief period of trying to learn when I was a kid.

Can anyone recommend me a decent board or brand to look at for him to get started on?

got my lad, when he was 7 or 8 a Tony Hawk one from Skatehut as they were a reasonable price and it's quite decent. Can't remember the size but I think there was some good info on there about sizes etc. Can't tell you much more as he's not used it as he wasn't instantly Tony Hawk! he does prefer roller skating

I suspect we may follow a similar use pattern. I’ll see if I can find something suitably priced on their website.

Get a mini deck it's an inch or 2 shorter and a bit narrower than an adult deck, just makes it easier for kids to ride, you wouldn't start them on an adult size bike same for skateboards.

My lad had an enuff board for starters they have deals on at the minute see link, get yourself a skate tool as all skateboards use imperial hardware so unless you have imperial tools it's well worth the money.
