Deciding where to go for our Summer holiday (me, missus, 2 daughters 15 & 13) and Sitges is looking good. On the coast, 30 mins train into Barcelona, looks like an ideal mix of beach and city / culture holiday. Found some nice accommodation, but could do with some personal experiences before booking.

Anyone been? Good, bad, indifferent?

Cheers

Gay holiday capital of the Med I believe.

Lovely place. Not necessarily an obvious choice for a family holiday though... I went with Mrs Fopster probably over 10 years ago and we were the only straight couple in the hotel. Some of the sights in bars and on the beach may have been a bit more educational for younger eyes than you'd choose. Sounds like a bit more research could be in order - no doubt someone with more recent experience will be along in a minute...

Roses further up the coast is nice. Nearly in France mind 😉

I've stayed in sitges many times with work, as there is a large proving ground that the majority of most of the European car manufacturers use about 35 minutes drive from there.

It is a really nice town and well situated for Barcelona / elsewhere. I think there is a train to Barcelona.

As mentioned above, I believe it is the gay capital of Europe but I'm not sure why that would deter you. Infact, the bar man in the hotel seemed to have out free drinks to those he liked the look of, so if you play your cards right you could have free beer on holiday! 🙂

I'd look a bit further up the coast, somewhere like Calella de Palafrugell
