anybody use one of these?
Thinking of getting the ikea electric corner variant and wondered if anybody using this or another variant.
I have an electric IKEA corner desk - i like it. Works well.
It's not perfect: The corner could be better supported tbh - I wouldn't want anything too heavy on the extension part, and it's a bit wobbly. But overall for the money, I think it's decent enough!
I bought the Ikea legs and got a different desk top from a hardware store, to which I added a rear shelf for the display screen.
I have a Yo-Yo desk (400?) at work which sits on top of your regular desk. Poorly made, when you collapse it into the sitting position the gas strut lets it go too low and it pushes on and detaches the keyboard+mouse shelf meaning you have to reattach it every time you go back to standing. The concept is great though and I do actually use the stand function for 2-4 hrs a day - was a bit worried I'd just remain on my backside.
If you are particularly tall then do some sums on how high it goes - I still have my monitors propped up on my desktop and textbooks to the tune of about 15-20cm to get the top of my primary monitor at eye level. Have gone portrait orientation on my secondary which helps with that.
I've gone for the Ikea manual version. My sister in law has one and is pretty happy with it. Pretty well made too.
Ikea one here too. Works well. I got the legs - IDÅSEN which are bit sturdier than the other type due to a triangulated design. I added my own desk top. Its been going up and down for the last few years without issue.
I use the ProperAV Two-Tier Stand-Up Desktop that you can buy from Argos - though I got mine for about £40 less from some online store. I've forgotten which though.
Unlike the one mentioned above its very sturdy and is probably one of the favourite things I bought this year - I love it, especially the way you can sit in the morning, stand in the arvo, mix it up! If i worked from home I'd probably have a fancy electric desk like my wife has but hers cost £1000 and mine cost £80.....
I bought one of these a little while ago and despite having a 34" widescreen monitor and small PC desktop on it it hardly moves at all. Impressed with it so far.

Yo Yo Desk Pro 1 here. 5 days per week use for 2 years and been faultless. Though to be fair I mostly stand now.
Bought my son a Flexispot e7 for his birthday present - he did ask for it. He really likes it, says it is nice and solid. We talked through the various alternatives and this seemed to be the best for him.
Thanks all. I have a corner ikea already so would be a leg swap if sticking with ikea.
The e7 looks as if it might be higher and I am tall so need to try and work out if the extra few cms is needed! @datsunman what is the dimensions fully extended, the website seems to show two different ones.
yoyo looks to stop quite a bit shorter so think that might be out despite being the cheapest!
Albeit the monitor height vs keyboard height issue is that not the same standing vs sitting? My monitor is already on a plinth to raise it above the desk quite a bit.
I have a Fully Jarvis. Solid, strong movement and does the job. If I was spending my own money at RRP I would double down on a premium chair and just use a standard desk. Working standing is no substitute for taking a break and having a walk around. Everyone that visits likes playing with it though.
Interested in this. I have been thinking about getting one for a while as a wfh full timer. My quandary is if I would actually use it or just end up with an expensive standard desk I sat at once the novelty wore off.
If you're using a monitor, get it on a monitor arm mounted to the desk, it's a much nicer and better way of working. And it clears a bit of space from the desk
I too have the Ikea legs (non corner version?) with a custom table top, because the Ikea one IIRC had sharp corners and Id be having to squeeze past it. The rounded corners on this give me much more space in the room.
It was a toss-up between this and the cheap electric one and I sort of wish I had got the electric one because it's a bit of a faff to wind up and down.
I am often lazy and sit down, but it's great to stand up. If I get stuck in the house too long sitting down I really feel my core becoming weak, standing up really helps.
@muddyjames it shows 129cm on the 'controller', plus whatever desktop thickness you have (mine is set at 105cm, measures 107cm from the floor with a 2cm desktop).
Used Fully Jarvis for bought for £300. It goes up and goes down at the touch of a button. I spend almost all my time sat at it. Standing is OK but cycling is better.
I've had a ConSet desk for over ten years. https://www.conset.org.uk/default.aspx
It wasn't a budget option but the fact it has had near daily use for over a decade must tell you something about the quality. I can recommend one highly (oops!) enough.
I have a Vari ( https://www.vari.com/uk/en/ ) which you can place on any desk. Its a sturdy bit of kit, but works very well.
I’ve got a Fully Jarvis frame with a live edge oak slab top I got elsewhere. It’s totally wasted on the home office.
I'm 6'4" and most sit/stand desks I looked at weren't high enough for me. It's not just the height of the monitors - you need to make sure keyboard and mouse are also at waist height (plus a few inches) when you're standing.
I've got a long back so my keyboard probably needs to be a bit lower than a "normally proportioned" person so, ideally, you should be able to adjust the relative vertical distance between monitor and keyboard as well as general up/down.
Anyway, I now work standing up vast majority of time now (well over 90% at a guess)
Got one from Posturite.co.uk a few years ago before ikea started doing them. It's great, but I find I don't use it standing as much as I used to. Should prob make an effort to stand more
Edit: as vlad says need to make sure screens are high enough (but that applies sitting as well as standing)
Have a two screen arm that allows them to be high up and also turn one portrait for reading long docs
I have the IKEA hand crank one. I've never used it down. When I first put it in I tried winding it up and down and thought it may get tiresome if you frequently switch but as I've not sat down it's a moot point. I have one of the IKEA unstable perching stools but I've not used it since I went standing only.
I had an old IKEA table top that I stuck on top of what ever colour the standing desk top was.
Flexispot here. Repurposed a solid oak coffee table top for the er...top.
