My old faithful Hitatchi SIP enabled router is not ADSL2+ compatible, and having moved house, it needs to be, to get connected.
It was a cheap 28 quid router that enabled me to connect a normal phone to VOIPdiscount.com.
It took ages to find it, and now I can't find anything similar that allows me to connect a normal phone to my router (for sensible money).
Anybody got any ideas? Missus needs to be able to call home as easily as possible.
Not sure if this will work but, use both routers? Use the new ADSL router for connect to your broadband connection and your old router in front of it. You'll have to disable DHCP and such on one or the other, might be a bit of a fiddle.
How about something like this http://www.sipgate.co.uk/voipshop/linksys/pap2t
Tried piggy backing them together in various forms and it failed.
Found this on Fleabay though http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300459640989&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
After a bit of reading up, it should do the job. I can plug it into the router and leave it running without any fannying on. 25 quid it is the best of the budget options and RRP is around 40 odd so I feel as if I've won just now.
Sad to see my Hitatchi put to rest, it worked hard.
