I am pleased to note that there is no karstic rock under my house. Where are you on this map?

About 60 miles North of London, right in the middle of the Chalky green bit, but it's ok - I'm not lucky enough for the sink hole to swallow me up!

Bottom of the yellow bit, about level with the little blue bit around the end of the orange bit.

A bus fell into a hole in my street a few years ago, so yes, I think I probably am to some extent.

Luckily I'm in the white space in Scotland...so I think I'm safe (but probably only just from all the mineshafts around the area!

Fine with the diagram but recently found out that one of the biggest pits in this part of Scotland was about a half a mile up the road so its probably riddled round here..

Where are you on this map?

On that map I appear to have floated off into the Atlantic. Did someone hold an independence referendum and not tell me?

Collapsed mine workings rather than a sinkhole

Paleozoic Limestone here, so I am knackered obviously.

However given the house hasn't fallen into a sinkhole in the last 350 years I should be just about okay. Though we are thinking about moving at some stage - into another bit of Paleozoic Limestone... damnit.

Pah. This is a sinkhole.

Thats not a sinkhole - this is a sinkhole (things get started at about 2.25)

resulting in a 150ft waterfall in a lake that was only 10ft deep. 250 acres of land and housing sucked down the hole!

As above, more chance of falling down a mineshaft for us round ours. I'll tie a plank across my arse to be safe though.

The Yorkshire Dales are nothing but Karst of course....on the edge of Swaledale here so definitely on the lookout for wonky trees and hedgerows.
