I (the mrs) am after a new web cam set up but have come across reincubates Camo app that lets you use your iPhone. The only problem being that to have Audio you require a separate mic. Anyone got any experience in this area? The mrs does online art tutorials so wants a good camera and audio. Is an all in one webcam better or Camo/iPhone + a good microphone? Thanks in advance STW👍
I've been looking at this, as my wife is doing piano concerts online, and we've tried a number of setups. Currently using my DSLR for video and a couple of Sony mics for the piano.
IMO the webcam is easy but you'll always sound like you're across the room. Same with the piano, using onboard mics you get too much key and pedal noise, background noise from the room etc.
Rode do an interface (sure others do too). You can then pick a mic to suit. A lavalier might work well?

Reincubate Do a good comparison on their web page but I am aware that they want you to use an iPhone, but in fairness the camera on a iPhone is very good. WRT mic’s the blue snowball looks good.
A lot of built-in webcam mics are pretty naff (although there's probably good ones out there). I'd say you're better off with a separate mic and maybe even get a wireless one if you need to be able to walk about a bit during tutorials, Rode do one (Wireless GO) but it's pricey
Separate mic - essential for being heard clearly. though it does increase the cost and complexity.
I think that’s the route (separate mic) that the mrs will go. Start off with iPhone/Camo and then look at getting a webcam if needed at a later date.
