Our daughters had a sleepover last night and one of the girls managed to get herself locked in the lavatory - catch jammed completely and failed in locked position when more force applied.
I cut the catch with an angle grinder but made a bit of a mess of the door frame. I'm thinking of either filling with epoxy wood filler or cutting out the damaged section and replacing. What would Singletrak do?

I'd probably replace the whole section if I could find matching.
Polyfilla and just build it up/sand back as required. Have filled in old latches/hinge cutouts etc and you can't see any marks. Does take time to let it set and make good but does work well.
As above, do it in layers. Too much in one go and it'll crack.
Yep, possibly try with two-part wood filler in white. Just do it in a few applications. Only mix up a squash-ball sized amount at a time. Sand back with a bit of sandpaper wrapped around a small block to keep it flat.

First thing I’d do is take the angle grinder away you maniac😀
Polyfilla if poss, otherwise if you have a Sawzall or similar cut out the affected bit and glue in a replacement. But the cheap/lazy Pollyfilla solution will probably work just fine.
I've now got two part wood filler and will be applying it the moment I get some peace.
Without the angle grinder I'd have had to cut the heads off the hinge pin or break the door itself, so I'm counting my blessings.
Two part filler. Let it set then flush back to the wood with an angle grinder.

Good stuff isnt it. I'm gradually rebuilding whole parts of our house using it, filling as bits rot.
Polyfiller is crap for wood. The white 2 part stuff is awesome as it matches white paint and is basically car body filler so you can chisel and screw into it. Goes off very fast though but that’s it’s big advantage to me.
If you were as good a carpenter as Leo the shipwright of Tally Ho fame (see Youtube) you'd chisel out and scarf in a piece of timber, the slats off wooden blinds are great for this kind of small filling job.
But if you're like me you will probably clean it up then trowel in a couple of layers of Polyfilla, rub down and re-paint.
