I had an idea for a 3D project in the way of some clip on soft faced jaws for your every day pair of pliers, either the standard type, or needle nosed.

The problem arises from the need to remove end caps/spacers of a Hope hub, and I am without anything protected enough to prevent the spacers becoming damaged as you grip the spacer to pull it off.
When swoping out on my pro4 hub spacers to go from 142-148 there was some damage caused to the old caps, a bit of a burr created and indents etc.
So what I thought would be a good idea would be a pair of soft jaws- Because wrapping the pliers in fabric Elastoplast doesn't really work, the material doesn't really provide a sufficient enough grip, and you need to squeeze them quite tight to get them to grip well enough, which despite being slightly padded can still cause damage.

So how about a matching pair of jaws, one convex, the opposite concave to get a good grip of the internal and external surfaces spacers, preventing any damage.
Probably something in a soft rubber/plastic type that has good friction to them.

Anyone ?

I just use Emery tape or soft jaws in a vice.
