Need help ...
Daughter 1 has recently found F1 and developed a passion for it so I thought a sneaky surprise on saturday practice day at silverstone would be a treat and not too costly. However looking at tickets it seems direct from Silverstone is now £209 for general admission and it says not to use ticket resale sites. Hopping across to viagogo its £83 for general admission but also say ticket might not be accepted and if so they will offer refund.
Is it viable to buy from the ticket reseller or will we not get let in ? If its the full price silverstone direct fee then I dont think we can afford to go !
Thanks for any advice for the STW collective of petrolheads !
£209 is for Saturday right?
If money is an issue then I'd get proper ones at £169 for Friday.
I'd not touch Viagogo, mainly as I despise what they do. But do you really want to risk going to all the expense of getting there and queuing for hours only to be turned away at the gate.
A bloke I used to know at work He retired ) was heavily into F1 and his advice to anyone who listened was to forget about the British GP and make a proper trip of a continental GP, his fav was the Spanish, but he reckoned just about all of them offered much better value for money and all round experience (with the exception of Monaco )
but he also advised wherever you go get tickets direct,
Those price must be because it's in a weeks time. Surely the Saturday general admission ticket isn't that much when bought further in advance? I went in 2021 and it's was about £360 for a full weekend with grandstand seat. I think general admission for the whole weekend was around £280.
But I'd also avoid Viagogo as they are everything that is wrong with event tickets.
Maybe a promise of next year and being more organised?
We're off for the weekend and tickets are much more expensive this year even compared to last year.
It's all mobile ticketing this year with tickets sent to purchaser for them to distribute to others via the app, so not sure how that would work with resale sites as I guess there would need to be an element of trust that the original buyer will actually send the tickets.
Sivlerstone's great but its cheaper to go to Spa Franchochamps! Or if you live near an airport, a ryanair/klm to Schipol, jump on the train and go to Zandvoort (if theres any tickets left).

We paid about £300 each for Copse covered grandstand tickets last year. Same tickets this year were close to double that. Ended up going GA as all of the grandstand tickets were crazy prices. I blame drive to survive.
There'slots of fb groups selling tickets which can be transferred by the silverstone app may be safer if you can find a trusted seller. I have a friday admission copse c terrace if thats any good to you £50
thanks for all the advice - agree its too much cash or too much risk so will try to get better organised for next year or someone else suggested the silverstone classic in Aug
Happy Trails

Would be my suggestion too. There are 3 places to really watch an F1 car really strut it's stuff: the Complex at Silverstone, the Swimming Pool at Monaco and the whole circuit at Spa. You can easily do a long weekend there for the same price as a day at Silverstone, see more and have the adventure of going abroad.
Spa Franchochamps +1
We did return flights Bristol to Brussels, 3 nights in a 4 star hotel, coach to/from the circuit & GA for £290 in 2018
thanks all for the help and advice - I think future plan better than a ppppp event ...
Cheers
I know someone who is looking to sell on a few tickets at the Grandstand at Becketts if you're still looking.
The guy in question, raced with Lewis back in the day!!!
We'll worth asking Niki if the tickets are still available:
Thanks Chew but will have to park it for now and make a plan for futures - on the flip side it means more bike trails this weekend !
