Driving to the circuit for the race on the Sunday and there will be a crowd of 140,000
Anyone done it before in a car ?
Many years ago Knockhill when the btcc used to get 40 maybe 50,000 was hectic getting in and out
I'm not the driver but will I get stressed out, here's hoping there's no rain

Went for the race only in 1997 and full long weekend in 2017. So not exactly a regular.
However both times everything went very smoothly and was well organized.

2017 was awesome, great weather, had a bike to get around on, not practical on race day though.

Use the P&R if you can would be my advice. Also get there early and plan to leave pretty late, there's usually some entertainment still running right up to the last buses back to the car parks.

Traditionally locals keep away or expect essentially to keep off the roads for the weekend, but it is also very established and well managed, and whole main roads get sort of rearranged to make it work. I think it's better than it used to be but I've avoided car travel anywhere near it for so long now that I can't give any first hand experience. Regardless, getting there early and expecting to leave late sounds like good advice. Most will go for multiple days I think.

Only ever driven when I was working there.
I lived 7 miles from the circuit for 20 years and would usually cycle there or occasionally borrow a motorcycle and cruise over but only if I could time it to get there half an hour before the race started and leave the second the winner crossed the finish line.
When I first moved to Maids Moreton most of the London traffic seemed to be directed through the village and it was moving at a walking pace for a couple of hours solidly.
Much better now the new road links are built.

Did it last year, drove straight into the village and parked at a mates house....
Probably not that helpful, sorry!

There wasn't a huge amount of traffic to be fair and the queue to get in the circuit wasn't too bad.

Getting out at the end was a little busier but traffic kept moving, just.

If you can get there early enough you can park @52.0159013,-1.0046675,3a,75y,336.52h,75.98t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sNZMM_VicQ-HCptMSpc3xnQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192" rel="noopener" target="_blank">here and cycle up through Dadford to the circuit, it'll take about 25 minutes depending on fitness etc. The drivers will hate you as you glide past them though. 😉
If you have NT membership you can park in the Stowe Gardens car park in case the locals in Chackmore get aggrieved.
