12 of us are considering skiing Sierra Nevada Feb half term. Please tell me how. I can see flights from Bristol to Malaga. Where do we stay? Do we need to hire cars or is there transfers avail? Do we stay on the mountain? or in nearby and drive/bus up?
Thanks
If you get no joy here then it's worth trying snowheads.
Just don't say that I sent you. 😉
Good call.
We went for Christmas a few years ago. Rented a flat in the old part of Granada and drove up every day. Hired everything on arrival. I am a complete novice so took lessons, brilliant trip. The lunches in the resort were stupidly expensive so we ate in Granada each evening, and took our own food up there for lunch.
The only time I've skied there, we effectively did what you mention: flew to Malaga, hired a car and booked a hotel about half way up the mountain, so had a short drive to covered car parking at the base station each day of our 4 day trip.
Useless trivia: it's the only place I've ever had to use snow chains, despite much of a lifetime spent driving around the Highlands to ski. We had a decent dump of snow and no-one else was able to get past the uphill driveway of the hotel, up to the main road. Powder day was midweek and epic, only one other group skiing the off-piste all day so we were still getting fresh lines in the late afternoon, with legs screaming for mercy...

spawny get!!!
So accom up the mountain where I don't have to drive each day can be a good option?
We did a days skiing there whilst cycle touring at Easter. We stayed the nights either side in Granada. Granada is a great city. I can see it really working. Ski by day city break by night. A rest day at the Alhambra might work. You might be able to get a train from Malaga to Granada
I've never gone skiing there, but travel to the region regularly.
Fly directly to Granada, grab an air BnB off the mountain on the Granada side and drive up each day.
Food up there is pretty poor in choice and pricey, but Granada is full of places and there's a huge food court at the Nevada Shopping Centre 30 mins from the ski resort with 15-20 food places.
