Crazy November temperatures up here. Currently 14C in Aviemore and 18C in Sutherland. We have roses budding, lupins flowering in our garden and someone I know in Kinlochleven has strawberries.
It’s all a bit odd isn’t it. Also a little worrying.

15° here in the SE although honestly feels a lot warmer. Sunny 17° forecast for Saturday so will make the most of what is probably going to be the last summer day ☀️😂
Longer range forecast is for it to start cooling down end of next week, crazy for mid-November.
Down south here, it was 21 degrees on Saturday a couple of weeks back, then we had about a week of solid rain, now it's back to high teens for this weekend!

Going through memories on facebook over the last few days. Loads are referencing issues about low temperatures, either driving on ice, digging the car out from the snow, being thankful i'd changed over to winter tyres, marking the first morning where the temperature had hit -10. That sort of thing.
Today it's 14 degrees and wet. Similar to the last 5 or 6 years.
Partly just the UK's erratic maritime climate isn't it? Not at all uncommon for Scottish temperatures to be higher on 21 December than 21 June. They just don't really fit into your expectations of seasons.
Trend for the UK though is warmer and wetter - as I remember being told the future looked like back at school in the early 1990's when I was first taught about the greenhouse effect. So no surprises.
I'm sat under a blanket in my north facing office wfh* and I'm not convinced the forecast temperature is correct!

Today's forecast is 14 day and 14 night. We still have flowers (the begonias are still festooned as they have been since spring) and the woods are still greener than they are brown.
It is not just the warmth - we are commenting on the rain seems to come in much more intense, summer storm like, pulses all the time. Not sure if I like that more or less than the day of driech we usually have...

Being the pessimist I thought that would be a cold bitter wind…..for todays ride I donned my winter gear…..big big mistake, within 10 miles I was roasting! Was windy though.

The problem comes when you get storm-like pulses and your drainage system is designed for steady driech. I'd opt for the dreich every time but I don't think we're going to have much say in the matter from now on.

It's nice and mild in the depths of Cheshire, loads of golden brown leaves on the floor, plenty of tress have shed, it's rather windy mind, so added to the warmth the trails dry out nicely after the few days of torrential rain we had the other week.
Makes it a bit of a bugger planning on what to wear for lunchtime bike based shenanigans though, bib longs as it's a tad chilly and they keep the wet mud off, but then the softshell jacket gets a bit toasty on big efforts.
@iainc - you might want to look again at the years those November figures were recorded and then decide if we're seeing anything unusual. Anyway, it's more the recent pattern or warm days rather than just the odd one that I'm referring to.
I've also been struggling with clothing choices - usually far too over-dressed.

It's nuts and worrying. Very warm in London, although today is a little cooler it's still far above where average is. Looks like it might get chillier after the weekend though.

A warmer climate means more water vapour due to evaporation, but high temperatures mean the vapour stays vapour. Cooler temperatures mean the vapour can precipitate out, like what we’re seeing now. Really could have done with a bit more during the summer, mind you, all the rain now will help restore underground water tables.
