14yo cat has been missing for 7 days.  Have done the usual, checks sheds etc, looked under bushes, walked the surrounding roads and spent the calling at night listening for meows, have informed the local vet(s) as she is chipped.

Despite a barely undetectable heart murmur she was of good health but my question is that, shortly before she vanished she did act odd by sitting on worktops and table tops at random times, licking worktops, floors and the sink despite having plenty of food and water - anyone know if this odd activity is linked to anything?

Clutching at straws really, I'm guessing she's gone.

Hope she turns up, but it does sound typical of elderly cats.  My doddery old cat hadn't left the house in years, I didn't even think she could jump up to the open window I left for my other cats, then one day I found her sitting in the middle of the garden. Took her back inside but a couple of days later she disappeared for good.  Got the feeling that she knew it was the time, and better to curl up under a bush than the stress of that final trip to the vets like my other two did 😥

We found ours after five weeks although he had lost a third of body weight.

Cats Protection put a FB alert out and he was spotted 12 miles away.

Hope you find her but sometimes they know and just have to let them go,

We found ours after a year and half! House literally behind us and offset by one had had him the whole time (dispite us knowing that they knew he was ours and was missing). Only found him as we have a loft conversion and I saw a fat cat in their garden one day. Had to re-home him (to sister in law's) as he kept going back.

OP, hope your cat makes it home.

Well good news.   Something drew me to look out the window at 1am and there she was.  Slightly thinner but unharmed and now acting as though she’s never been away.

Only 7 days so can’t compete with the above!  I suspect she got locked in somewhere.
