Why would the shower be warm but not hot when the tap water is very hot? Same system, my mum is ta
King about putting a tank back in 🙄 tried to explain that the system doesn’t have a tank. Old parents can be very stressful

If it’s a thermostatic shower mixer the stat could be duff. Failing that a restriction on the hot feed, or could the hot run go through cold, uninsulated space?
Also, cold side might need a flow restrictor. With the flow turned very low and mixer set to highest temp does it get hot?

What type of shower? I'm assuming it's a mixer & has a faulty mixer valve or one that needs adjusting.

Been a disaster for use - mixer valve failed. Plumber tried to source another valve, then broke the stop valve on the hot water, so created another fault. When the mixer unit was replaced, it didn't cure the problem. Then he ran away! Fnally fixed by someone competent. We have a pressurised hot water supply and the tank is right next to the shower - it wasn't a blocked pipe.

Most likely the thermostatic cartridge in the mixer is partially blocked with limescale - we have the same problem. I just need to find the isolating valves before I dismantle and clean it!

Could it be as simple as not knowing that there's a little button to press in on the temperature valve to get the shower past the safe/warm setting? I was at a house a couple of weeks ago for exactly same issue as OP. Turns out the hot and cold pipes were back to front so the shower valve had to be installed upside down and the little button was hidden from view when it reached its stop. Showed the elderly homeowners how it worked and they were happy.

HaHa, I was in a temp rental apartment for 8 months whilst the house was being done up. At about month 4 I discovered/stumbled on why the shower wasn't getting very warm.

Sorry for the hijack but I have been meaning to post an almost identical problem. Our basin is next to our shower and it has two separate taps, if I run the cold tap at about 1/4 open, our shower is super hot ( shower is a mixer ), if I don’t run the tap, the shower is only just ok. We have a combi and I was assuming that I would need to restrict the cold water into the bathroom, same problem with the bath.

It depends if the shower mixer has a thermostatic valve or not.
If it has, it will compensate for fluctuations in incoming hot/cold feed to an extent. If it hasn’t, then running either hot or cold taps will really affect the shower temp.
Also, if your cold really comes out quickly, then you usually would need to fit a flow reducer on the cold side of the mixer.

Limescale in the thermostat. Just had the cartridge replaced and back to nice hot showers
