I'm after a favour folks. Mother in law has just come out of hospital after a fairly serious operation and Mrs B is staying with her at the moment. Unfortunately, the shower seems to have an issue.

It's a Grohe mixer shower, using hot and cold feeds fed with an electric pump. Unfortunately, it has just started 'pulsing' when at appropriate hot and cold mix, but apparently is fine when either fully hot or fully cold. It was unused whilst mother in law in hospital, but that was less than a week.

Any ideas?

I'm trying to avoid the scenario of a previous plumber visit for the same issue, where he insisted it was the mixer cartridge, replaced it at some notable cost only to find that it did not solve the issue and it was actually one of the filters which was blocked...

Thanks.

Does it work OK with the shower head taken off? Could be the shower head has scaled up while not in use and now can't take the pressure being fed to it, which in turn might upset the pump.

Is one of the filters blocked? 🙂

Turn water off, taken shower mixer apart, check filters and put back together. It's a 10min job and requires only a hex key (or two).

Really is pretty simple. Youtube vids if you're not sure.

You have answered your own question - check the other filters?

Check for a surge/pulsation damper and check the pressure, they have a Scraeder valve on top.
