A comment made by MrChrispy in another thread got me thinking…

When the World is ending I think I’d like the bodies of the undead to bounce of the windscreen of one of these.

Zombies? You'd be better advised to shelter in (fortified) place. Having a bug-out vehicle implies having a place to go and a plan to get there, and what to do when/IF you arrive. Best just to wait it out and let the problem decompse.

It would have to be one of these:

[img] [/img]

The ability to drive across a river or lake is a huge advantage, plus it weighs nine tons, and is armoured. 😀

Yeah, but thats just a tarted up Saracen APC - and lets be honest, if you're planning to mow down hordes of zombies with a tarted up Saracen, then you might as well have one with a decent sound system like the KFL did:

My last boss has a couple of snatch Landrovers which would be great if you could guarantee a source of fuel.
I just need to be able to get to the underground bunker 2 miles away that I have one of the 3 keys to. I live closer than the other 2 key holders too...

There's nothing wrong with having a zombie infestation plan...

I'd probably choose the Marauder as seen in Top Gear

[img] [/img]

It's sort of the right mix of go-anywhere but with enough storage space for some food and a bed. Also, if all the zombies should explode, it can still cope with that.

*edit: bugger, Muke beat me to the Marauder by 25 seconds...

I do think only AdamW has got the whole 'getaway' thing sorted.

I'd go for the last of the V8 Interceptors myself...

Taxi for Farage?

Good over rough ground and for towing an 88mm (optional extra... German car innit). Not so clever for protection against the rain.

Thinking about it one of these might be better, able to squash lots of shambling dead, and the foam sprayer could be converted to spray jellied petrol:

[img] [/img]

Lots of room inside for supplies, and to kip in, when necessary. 😀

Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

You guys are not thinking this through. Zombies never stop - you would need a solar powered car.

Might as well have fun whilst avoiding the hordes.

I saw an article somewhere about custom motor homes starting from an 18t van chassis. If that could be combined with the EM50 project from the movie stripes that would do me nicely.

If you want to be prepared, start bidding. 🙂

I've decided a bike is better. You can't get trapped in it. You don't need fuel. You can go offroad and carry it if necessary.

Best of all the Zombies won't hear you and follow you home.

So what bike for the Zombie Apocalypse?

Why would you use a car? Surely a helimichopper would be more useful?

Until you had to refuel.

I've been giving this some consideration. If you want to move quickly, and get through where four wheeled vehicles can't go, you need a mid-sized MX bike with a reliable kickstart, a good bash plate, as silenced as possible, and painted an unobtrusive colour.

Having just read the Zombie Survival Guide it recommends a bike as the ideal post-apocalypse transport as it's stealthy ( the sounds of a V8 will surely attract zombies for miles around ) and doesn't require fuel which will become scare during the apocalypse.

The tank from aliens

The tank from Aliens was one of these, slightly modified. Weighs 60,000kg...

Douglas heavy aircraft tractor. Cool vehicle, taxi and zombie proof.

I love this photo. Not because it is a particularly good shot of the vehicle, but just because it is in a car park.

It seems that not many of you have read the zombie survival guide. The only useful vehicle in a zombie attack is a mountain bike. No need for fuel, can go anywhere and great fun to boot.

Also zombies can't swim, but they can walk along the seabed.

Saw a zombie this morning out on my bike actually.

This would be quite good.

[img] [/img]

Nuclear powered - Tick
Armed to the teeth - Tick
Bite resistant hull - Tick
5680 Americans on it - Errr... think I'll take my chances with the mountain bike.

If its Max Brooks idea of zombies (slow shambling ones) then yep im on a bike. If its the 28 days later type then something a bit more armoured.

Who cares about parallel parking, it weighs sixty tonnes! 😆
And the alien managed to bleed acid through tne windscreen...

Zombies don't bleed acid, though, so no problem there. You'd want fully armoured glass, though.

H-t-S, with all the mods, that's a seriously cool looking vehicle, four-wheel steering is neat, and very useful if you really have to parallel park!
Imagine trying to get an insurance quote on confused.com, though... 😀
