Still hankering after another one, particularly after having made friends with some flat-coats today 🙁

Not practical for me to have a dog at the moment so some pics would be nice, but only of gundogs!

They certainly are. He's fine in the cold as long as he doesn't get wet, and he has the sense not to.

Its on the loch at Aviemore on the road to the ski place. Yes he was on the lead as we spent hours trying to get him out before this. He just runs and jumps into all water repeatedly.

He is now walking on all 4 legs, slowly though which is heartbreaking considering he was nuts before hand. I cried like a baby as we rushed him to vets - we got asked whether we wanted him put to sleep or give him a chance. He has had 3 homes before us so I wasn't gona give up on him like everyone else had, thank god for insurance.

Great looking dogs.

I, like you CG, would love a dog but cannot justify one at the moment. I have never owned a dog before, or been around them when I was growing up but one day I will be the best master a dog could want.

Fingers crossed for stability some time in the future.

Here's Louis, he's sitting at home at the moment due to having his other elbow pinned, so he's now missing nearly all of the shooting season.

[img] [/img]

He's a typical Spaniel like cabon337's above, the slightest sign of water and he's in there.

We adopted him when he was 9 months old the previous owners had said he was too much trouble and was interrupting their lives too much?

We've had him for nearly 12 months now and he's fine, yes he can be a pain but he's nothing like as bad as we were expecting and as he's grown up he's settling down really well.

Meet Bracken and Widget.
Two working Field Spaniels.
[img] [/img]

The late Charleston "Charlie" Pickle
(only got him a few months through training before he was diagnosed as being epileptic which was a shame)
[img] [/img]

And the late but totally awesome beating dog, Nickel with his Mrs Copper c.1989. My first working Springer and he was legendary. Sadly missed.
[img] [/img]

And just for Gus: Bracken and me out beating 😉

@hainey
Have a word at local tackle or gunsmiths, voulenteer to do some beating etc. Then you should get on a beaters day, then take it from there.

hainey,

What sort of shooting do you want to do?

If you want to try clay pigeon shooting check out the CPSA website

If you want to get involved with Game shooting, try beating and check out the NOBS website or the PUBS website.

I hope this helps 😀

Nice pictures, and I'm allergic to dogs!

My brother in law has a gun dog and I was amazed and how well trained it is. We went for a walk, it stayed at his left knee, never one half body length ahead (don't want to get the head blow off by an accedental shot gun blast!). As a runner who gets reguarly 'inspected' by dogs when out on the trails, this was an eye opener. Nice looking dogs and I'm slightly jealous I can't own one.

Hainey if you want to find a shoot that requires beaters near to you then one of the best places to start could be here.

http://pubs.myfunforum.org/index.php

Once you get into a shoot, then you can learn the ropes and perhaps end up shooting on a beaters day and taking it on from there.

Sorry to hijack your forum cinnamon_girl

Oh there is another forum for such things but they are a bunch of nobs

http://www.nobs.org.uk/

Ok but you have to pay to register, then rely on them ringing you and asking you to join a shoot, the other forum is much more easily useable and is free,

(we like free)

CG - Ive been lucky to grow up around some wonderful dogs. I dont get to work dogs as often as I used to. In the family it's my mum and my bro who have the dogs now (our travelling for months at a time means we cant keep one), so I use theirs - fortunately they're never more than 15 minutes away 🙂

One day when we're more settled Ill get me a new Springer: Nickel Mk II 🙂

Fenboy - Yep, off her rocker. We had a crazy Springer before, so it's not too much of a shock.

robgarrioch - German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP). Like a GWP they have two modes: sleeping/wuss/cuddles and MENTAL.
