(not mine- mine has a replacement motor and is missing some of the add-ons.)

Basically, it's a scale model of a lathe- surprisingly useful but limited in the size of work it can cope with, and the bed's a wee bit flexy. But then, it's as old as my dad, and unlike a proper full size lathe/mill it fits in my garage.

I've not made much from scratch with it- mostly things for the lathe in fact! Mostly it just gets used to repair/modify existing stuff.

Right just finished dinner, and gone over to the shed.
This is mine - a Warco WMT300. A fairly generic Chinese lathe/mill combo. Spent a bit of money replacing the original single phase motor with a variable speed digital one, which has made it much more pleasurable to use.

Currently just finishing making a Scott Vacuum engine.

Would be an ideal man toy for a model engineer or for making bike lights when I can get around to flogging it on Ebay etc.

My dad used to have a c100 yr old massive lathe in the garden shed but that went years ago.

We planned to make a model engine but it never quite happened.I made a small brass canon, that was it.

Nope just had a good furkle round and only what looks like a serial number in the door of the Gearbox .

This is boring the lower ball joint housing for the wishbones on my Morris Minor. the lathe got so much use when building the car.

Bike related stuff: Light housings (from some old Santa Cruz down tube), headset spacers, seat post spacers, caliper mouting spacers, parts to push bearings in and out of hubs, headset bottom plate hammering on tube etc etc .

Not sure what I would do with out the lathe.

not me but my friend doug briggs. he builds accordions and made this super 8 film.

I'm dribbling here (ex. auto lathe setter), always wanted one at home...hopefully will get there one day

I think that's what I was looking at getting, just large enough to reface car brake discs I think?

Possibly. You should be able to face something up to about 300mm, which I guess would rule out larger discs.
There's a similar Chinese lathe out there with a taller headstock that could accommodate greater diameters though.
