Lots of posts on here about cars, and a number of posters appear to have some nice motors.

So heres a dedicated thead to show them off. Obviously some performance figures need included for bragging rights and to annoy those who seeth at the thought of anyone in anything more than a 1.2 lt polo being the devil

Not proper fast, but quick enough to be really good fun, sadly long gone now, 40k in 2 years took it's toll on both the car and me (the exhaust was less than subtle!) and I replaced it with a Golf GTD (also now long gone) which was better in every single way apart from not being fun!

I always said I was happy driving sensible diesel cars as long as I had my motorbike, but since buying my house 2.5 years ago, that hasn't been out of the garage once!

Cheeky bike photo - Cadwell track day, 9th Feb 2013, that was a very cold day!

this reminds me of the bedford high street incident; a garish, heavy revving, ooh look at me lambo came to a halt at the lights, an elderly gent on the pavement, stepped over and wrapped on the window and shouted 'bloody idiot'.... 😀

mazda 3 - currently in the garage, about 100 mph on a good day, but never done that much because i'm far to sensible.

Pic of which?
The M135i running a nice map around 370bhp with 0-60mph under 5s as standard
The GS1200LC - for comfort
The ZX10R which is a long, long way from standard
The ZZR1400 which will eat just about anything this side of £1m

My garage ornament. Half the turbo count it should have, more wheel and power than it needs, 0 to rebuild in under 5 minutes.

Pah, Evo, 911, RX7, you all don't know the meaning of power.

I've got a 1.4 TDCI Fiesta with a crack in the manifold so it letting half the ponies straight out the side before it hit's my gargantuan 10p sized turbo.

Ok then, not exactly mine but....

[img] [/img]

620kg, currently we're getting about 330bhp, generates usable downforce at about 60mph and glues itself to the road when going faster. 0-60 currently at about 3.2s but we think we can pare this down a bit more...it's very, very fast.... 8)

Oh and it'll do 40mpg when you aren't pushing it 😉

Not fast by modern standards at all but helluva good fun to drive on a twisty road and something you take out on a run just for the smiles.

1984 Golf GTI with a ABT tuned 16v engine and close ratio gearbox with quaife diff, Bilstein B12 shocks/eibach springs and anti roll bars/fully polybushed, uprated brakes. 192bhp and 168lbft torque.

[img] [/img]

And purely to irk jimjam 😉 , my 1.6tdi caddy - remapped to 148bhp and 224lbft torque, not exactly quick but can surprise a few hot hatches. Considering a new turbo/ stainless exhaust and intercooler to give a bit more poke.

Sadly don't have this anymore (and couldn't find a better photo easily).

Renaultsport Megane 225 with the Cup chassis. Most fun car I've ever driven. 0-60 in 6 seconds (more than quick enough for non-track activities) and cornered like a kart.

In terms of a balance between cost, real-world quickness and practicality not sure there was much better at the time.

VERY thirsty though...

Not massively fast, but certainly pretty rapid and about as quick as I reckon I can actually use on UK roads.

in fairness some of these cars could be had for the price of a blinged up santa cruz. I know what id rather spend my cash on!

Standard 120d MSport, 0-60 7.7secs loads of torque yet easy 55mpg+. It was originally a gap filler but now after its more practical, sensible and fun than I first thought, I'm seriously considering the £300 remap to 225bhp/420nm and keeping it.

It's STW. VWs, Audis and BMWs count as "fast" cars.

What's more surprising is people bother to take photos of them.

which could this (it had very long legs and would light up the rear wheels as you went into fourth at 107mph on a damp runway..)

Now have this:

Bought this 15 years ago when I was in my early 20's and I've never got round to selling it.

Had around 320-330bhp in this video and it's got another 100 on top of that now so quick enough for me!

This was before I had to buy a family car. If I'd have kept it, I probably wouldn't have been around to start a family. As shown by the speedo in the picture below, it was still accelerating at that point.

Mk1 MX-5's aren't exactly 'fast' as stock but they're fun to drive. Mine wasn't exactly as it came from the factory - I know looks were a bit marmite:

[img] [/img]

As well as body, interior, suspension, brakes etc, it'd had some work done under the hood. Kept it normally aspirated but twin Mikuni carbs, lightened fly, JDM skimmed racing head etc, 4-1 manifold, ECU upgrade. Made for a lively drive...

Some of the Japanese tuning houses are doing crazy things with 5's. Maruha Motors had a 2.1 litre NA (wonders off to find details on google)

Yeah mine was awesome but did have the occasional expensive trip to the garage, but they're always going to do that. I fitted straight through pipes after a while. A mixed reaction off the neighbours for that one. Plus it always set off car alarms in car parks. But what a noise...

I sold it for a Mk2 Clio V6 255 in the end.

I had an E30 M3 followed by an E36 M3 but previous to those I had my all time favourite car which was my Williams Clio. I co drove a race prepared 911 for a while which was fun but was very expensive even when shared.

Picking up an Octavia VRS Diesel estate on Thursday next week which is fast enough and fits a family/camping/biking 'lifestyle'.

My old m135i, and even older fn2 typeR.

[IMG] [/IMG]

Downgraded for a sensible ish 325i which is well-balanced and makes a nice noise but isn't thrilling in the same way. I loved that m135i. I can't think of a better car that is usable everyday including for chucking bikes inside and still completely silly and brilliant 🙄

Thanks! It is a 1600 GT Junior. Needs another 50 hp to make it properly quick, which it will be getting next winter, keeping the original engine. Still enormous fun on Sussex's deserted roads. The A272 is a peach!

Tesla model S P100D (electric) (not mine unfortunately)

"Model S Performance comes standard with All-Wheel Drive Dual Motor, pairing the high performance rear motor with a high efficiency front motor to achieve supercar acceleration, from zero to 60 miles per hour in 2.5 seconds."

2.5 seconds 0-60! I cant wait for the leccy car revolution.
Some of the Japanese tuning houses are doing crazy things with 5's. Maruha Motors had a 2.1 litre NA (wonders off to find details on google)

I'm trying to find a spare couple of grand to supercharge mine. I think about 190-200hp is enough for an MX5.

I do love that mine feels like you're driving the wheels off it, then you look down at the speedo and you're doing 61mph, ooo-er!

Too many diesels in here .

Not mine but got to take a 998cc 4 on the floor mini for a spin yesterday. Not fast in the slightest but sooo much fun to keep it singing.

Then we went out in a vx220 now that is a car that handles like it's on rails. Doesn't have any of that lovely "fast [s]in a straight line[/s]" diesel heavy front end understeer.

I then got back in my land rover and trundled off home happy enough.

I dont see why this is an issue, if its good enough to race at Le Mans... A "fast car" is a fast car no matter how its powered.

This has made me look at 135i/140i a lot...

No photo but I drive a 130i, I've done over 50,000 miles in it so far and I love it.

My JDM RX-8. Doesn't get driven much around here but can't bring myself to ever get rid.

This thread needs rules - agreed no problem with diesel but something like 0-60 in under 6 seconds as a minimum qualifier or something as "fast" is clearly pretty subjective!

Race car is race car though. Don't see any diesel race cars here.

Some people's fast cars look funny too it's like their missing 2 wheels as well.

Loving the caterhams and derivatives - most fun I've had in a car being slung round a track by a mate in one.
