Since c-z has mentioned Yema, I'd like to say that I really hankered after their Bipole, a watch produced for the Raid Gaulioses, in 1990. Titanium, Kevlar and carbon fibre, a built in Sideral compass on the pivoting face for navigation.
Somebody flogged a stash of nos Bipoles on ebay about 15 years back, selling price varied from around £120, up to £200 for the last of them, but I didnt have the money at the time.
Unfortunately Yema never supported them, and I think there was a big issue with replacing batteries.
Shame, they're pretty outrageous.
Nice Hammy Vinny. I have the Navy GMT below and also a Khaki field Auto.

On and on - that is a lovely watch. I've got a 1973 square faced buluva accutron spaceview. Love the tuning fork sound
LOL at that chav bauble.
I wonder how some people who buy stuff with D&G emblazoned across it would react if you told them they were advertising a gay couple?
Oooh a bargain.
How much?
Offline old boy, talk of money is so vulgar 🙂
.
Messiah, that is bloody lovely.
Not Chav at all, do you know me, No, so how can you possibly pass judgement?
I'm sure the title of the thread is 'Show me your bling watches cos it's Sunday and I'm bored'.
Also, im not advertising the KKK, or BNP or similar organisation so what difference does it make what its advertising?
Stupid comment if you ask me.
i was commenting on what i thought about the watch. it's a vulgar timepiece that you would find as a knock-off on a market stall for £20. whatever i think about is irrelevant as regards you buying it or wearing it though.
"some people" is not the same as 'everybody' or 'you'
Each to their own I suppose.
Still cost me a damn sight more than £20!
Each to their own I suppose.
is right - particularly with regards to that D&G...

Wood burning stove in the background ...
So close to the full set 😉
ah but my kids ride Islabikes so that makes up for the lack of stove (I do have an open fire 😉 )
RS6 in the background - Check
haha i noticed that too. Subtle 🙂
So long as there is a wood store somewhere then at least most of the box is ticked, did you hand build the balance bikes before the Isla's too?
🙂
The GMT master II is a lovely watch by the way.
MountainMutant, that Tag is stunning. And so is your choice in cars.
GMT II with blue/black is a gorgeous looking piece as well. My next choice is either one of those or a Submariner date. Just something about the Sub date that does it for me.

Understated and surprisingly accurate to boot!
Nice!
Love the Panerai's and have the wrists to pull the large face off but the sensible head says the Rolex.I don't have a metal strapped watch and I guess it's more timeless.
When I bought the Monza the Rolex sub was £3.5K. They are now £5.5K. Even second hand they are more than £3.5K
I worry that the oversize look may date in time...ooh decisions
Notter, that Nomos is really really nice. Sleek, understated, clean, not cluttered and a bit different. Ticks all my boxes.
suprising number of TAGs... (guilty BTW) im looking at a milligauss for next year, only because i like the second hand and some of our machines create strong magnetic fields (which are the best reasons i could come up with!!)
Peterfile you've just listed all of the reasons that I bought it for! I went for the Automat, it's a slightly larger case diameter (41.5mm) which I can pull off and quite slim. Must admit I love it more and more since I bought it!
Lovely, PaulEvans. And Marcus7, my cousin has the Milgauss and absolutely loves it. It is a stunning watch and the second hand is really different. Go on, treat yourself 😉
I've nearly bought a Panerai luminor several times, but i just justify it sny more. The Rolex won't lose money though like the Panarai, I had a GMT 11, lovely watch but the mrs used to say every time I rolled over during the night it'd knock lumps out of her. Sold all my watches other than my Rolex explorer which I love, JW Benson dress watch and an IWC that I never wear.
ovely watch but the mrs used to say every time I rolled over during the night it'd knock lumps out of her
You wear a watch to bed?
Bit of a crappy pictureUsed day in day out, on the road bike but not the mtb, Rolex thunderbird, bit bashed but understated and keeps good time
if not that then this which I got half price in a sale years ago
or my casio :D. I've an old (25yrs) TAG 1000 but I never wear it anymore)
Here are a few of mine.
I'm not in the uk to take pics of my watch box but these are the main watches I use day to day.

That bullhead automatic is lovely.
Cheers, it took me months to find a good one. This one was made in my birth month and year (June 1976)
Not my actual one but a lifted picture, I like the simple dial. great quality for the money.

Damn it, that pic is tiny! It's a Christopher Ward C11 MSL Mk1 Auto for anyone interested.
@Perterfile.
I always wear a watch, using s garmin 610 at the moment, other half says it looks cheap and nasty.
Another C.W

A watch for the lazy.No batteries to change, no time to set and water resistant, so don't care if it gets wet.
Just like my Seiko, then... 😉
There are some lovely watches up there ^, I like the Braun, although I wouldn't own one, and I really like the Nomos, that's such a nice, clear design.
That Bullhead Auto is nice, too; very impressive.
Had a long-standing hankering after a Panerai Luminor, but I like my SPORK so much, and it's so nice to wear, it's difficult to justify, even given the money.
I think the Tudor is the only pricey watch I'd wear as an alternative to the Seiko.
You choose a watch with your heart, not your head! If it was a head purchase we'd all be wearing £5 Casios. The only way to do it is to try several on and buy the one you like the feel of, the one you like handling the most, the one you like looking at just for the sake of it, not because you need to know what time it is.MountainMutant - Member

Panerai loose money, are you mad?! By and large, they hold their value exceptionally well, something that very few manufacturers can boast (Rolex & Patek amongst them).saleem - Member

I know what you mean about the cost though, the entry into the brand has become prohibitive…this is part of the reason that they hold their value; limited production runs, drip-fed to retailers throughout the year and an annual come-what-may price rise, all to protect the brand value. The Richemont Group have done a good job in that respect but have excluded a good number of potential customers in doing so. Not that they’ll give a monkeys, all part of the plan to pitch the brand as a ‘manufacture’ and knock heads with the big boys.
My first and only decent watch....

Brought for me by my Ex, which is a constant annoyance to my Fiancee... 😳
Should sell it and buy something else really
Its been in Daily use, so has a nice patina now
I like the Welder watches, and I`m currently designing a case for a Horologist friend, which is a variation on the Panerai paratrooper watch
so, S****chworld,
I've always liked the design and styling of the Stowa marine original after seeing it displayed on here and i'd love to own one, but couldn't really afford the £700 price tag.
photo for reference, not necessarily my ideal watch!
Does anyone have any suggestions of cheaper (£100-£200) watches that pay homage to the styling cues of the stowa marine? the bits i like about that timepiece are the leather watch strap (in brown is my preference), the clean face with the lack of chronograph dials etc, lack of bezel and the fact its not too chunky.
you guys have good taste - any ideas?

Not off the top of my head, but a copy of the Wris****ch Annual might help, or ask over on the watchuseek forum.
The MO is a lovely watch and I might have to treat myself one day. There are similar designs that are much more expensive, if that helps... 😉
Shot of the rear of my Stowa to tempt ya, just save for 7 times as long 😉

you monkey****er you 😉
I would love a stowa, but as a chirstmas present i couldn't afford it even putting money towards it.
the kemmner does give exactly the look i want. Unless someone with a stowa was to sell me one cheap.... 😉
Have you looked at Laco? I hear they're also very nicely built but haven't seen one in the flesh.
