My wife's having another major op on her left hip on Sat - the last was less major 1 year ago to try and correct a hip head and socket defect. This corrected a problem but now they think it is the less of the 2 problems and is going in on Sat to have it broken in 3 places with 3 big titanium screws in.

Although I am medically trained it still doesn't stop me worrying and now its monday I am feeling a bit shite. Should I buck up for her sake and stop worrying or show my wife I am worried otherwise she may think I am not bothered? 🙁

What MrNutt said.

Being medically trained won't stop you worrying about someone you love - that's rational facts, emotions just don't play nice that way.
I hope all goes well, I am sure it will, but don't be afraid to show her you're concerned. Make a couple of mugs of tea and have a good long chat.
🙂

speaking from the side of someone who's been on the wrong side of knife hip interfaces as is waiting for another go, I hate the girlfriend acting too worried as I'm worried enough for both of us, but then I dont want to her to seem unconcerned. Its a fine line, you know her best, hope all goes well.

Whats she having done sounds nasty. I have FAI which has been treated with arthroscopes (still not at all nice and spent 6 weeks off work) got to have the other hip done soon. Mate had the same and was treated with an open dislocation procedure.

You know her best you will know what she wants. You can talk to her about how she feels and that will give you an idea how you both feel. hope all goes well a lovely couple who desreve all and will get all. It is only natural to worry if not you would not care. fingers crossed she is ripping up the trails soon.

Shit thats not nice at all, please pass on my best wishes. Depression is my biggest problem rather than any pain, its hard to look on the bright side when you cant do the things that make you happier.

Sh's a very positive person and is still up beat and has controlled her diet ever since she gave up sports (kick boxing, mountain biking, yoga, pilates .....). I hope this sorts her out so she can get back to at least some normality - I would have cracked by now I am sure 🙂
