some offical looking people are doing some work in my street, I live half way down and they have closed the street at both ends so cant get the car in or out. Big white lorries, a massive tube (you could walk down it)coming out of one and going under ground and what looks like a oil rig further down with a strange white gas coming out off it....the place stinks of chemicals/strong glue.......they are all wearing what looks like NBC suits and I have a headache........should I be worried 😕

Undoubtedly. Did they move the neighbours out of the area?

When the workmen all start running away screaming, yes, be worried, very worried. Any idea what they doing, sounds peculiar?

I know the art of oral communication died when Tim Berners-Lee did his stuff but did you think of asking them?

Thats one of those sucker things that suck things up from under the ground. It also may be one of the blower things.

Irish_AL, What's that web-site address on the side of the truck. I have a professional interest in sub-surface drains maintenance, (hmm, interest may be a little overstating it) and depending on what they are doing they could be useful for me. Can't shed any light until I've done some research though. Ta.

Cheers. Looks like they are carrying out remote pipe-lining and repair. This could genuinely be quite a superb solution to some major problems developing at work. Thanks Irish_AL. STW comes up with the answer once more, without even asking!!

Theyre relining the sewers with a plastic pipe, bit like a thick condom, you dont want to be sitting on the bog incase it takes a detour though, or they put it to suck instead of blow.

We had the 28 days later crew at the chemical factory I used to work at. I understand they usually target decommissioned and abandoned places, and if you are familiar with the Brunner Mond works at Northwich, you could see how they could make that mistake. 😀

Been there, and thought it was derelict, such a state it was in,the nice security guard persuaded me otherwise.
