Thank God Yorkshire tea is grown just off the M62 near the farm in the middle.

I predict a clearing of shelves as the panicked of Basildon ensure they've at least half a cupboard full of tea, just like the great loo-roll panic of 2020...

If anything is going to tip this country into anarchy, then a tea shortage is it

It’s already started.  No Yorkshire either std or decaf at Tescimo in Loughborough.

Tetleys?

Dust grade; not much better than floor sweeping.

This is just the start, you mark my words. If we can learn anything from American history, expect Yorkshire to declare independence in early July.

A good opportunity to switch to something decent then. Twinnings extra strong breakfast or Assam is good for bags and seems to come up on special offer quite often.

Whoever told you that is an astute individual of superior quality.

I think I managed 2 cups of tea the whole of 2023. How long  until the unopen box PG tips is worth enough to swap for a new bike?

Hold your nerve, I reckon you'll be in high end EEB territory before you know it.

I've found a stash of Yorkshire in my deployable brew-kit, not sure of the year but I heard it matures like fine wine, right?

If Yorkshire tea is in shortage or unavailable, especially Yorkshire Gold, there will be massive riot and who ever is governing will be in deep trouble.   Force the politicians to drink dried papaya leaf as tea instead.   Please don't try it coz it is so bitter you will have nightmare after that, and will avoid papaya in future. LOL!  Same goes with papaya seeds.   (note: East Timorese eat so much of papaya leaf, even the hungry mosquito avoid them. p/s: papaya leaf and seeds are good for health by the way.  We used to consume them and even bitter gourd is weak by comparison )

However, Tetley said it hoped to continue to meet normal demand.

It said while its current production levels were not changing, the amount it was able to hold in stock as a buffer would drop, in what it described as a "quite fluid situation".

That's an amazing press release joke 😁

I'm disappointed we managed seven posts before the obvious STW response.

Oh dear. I seem to remember some pretty bad things happened to those a few hundred years ago who got in the way of the supply of tea to Britain.

It all worked out well for US after the Boston tea party.

Following that line...GB made the US so we only have ourselves to blame.

I’m raiding B&M later for a few essentials, so I’ll stock up on a couple of the bumper boxes of Yorkshire Tea while I’m there, I need some more anyway. I’ll get another box or two of the Twinings green tea bags as well - my preferred brew in my flask bottle when I go out for a walk, ‘cos it’s still perfectly hot and drinkable several hours later.

It’s apparently due to shipping adding 3000 miles to their journey to avoid the Red Sea, which is roughly five days. Which means more fuel, which adds to inflation.

Heard the guy from Tetley saying they have enough for "normal buying conditions"

...well that's not going to trigger panic buying at all is it?
