Hols to Spain in a few weeks and going through Manchester.
I do like a bourbon, and a mild whisky, but they are quite “wintery” drinks and I’m hoping to pick something up in duty free on the way out, that would be nice with a bit of ice, fresh rather than heavy. Maybe a spiced rum?
I can’t say I’ve ever had tequila on my radar and gin is a bit faffy with mixers.
Any good stuff I should be looking at with that somewhat limited choice in duty free?

Tequila is the best summer spirit going, well that or mezcal, as a margarita or a paloma
A decent anejo tequila can be drunk with ice. Even without it's pretty light compared to bourbon etc. I mean, they drink it in Mexico quite a bit and I've heard that's hot.
Gin for summer, surely? Or at least sloe gin (with tonic and ice).

It's hardly faffy to pour in some tonic and bung in some ice. Get flavoured tonics so you don't even have to bother with a lemon/lime/cucumber wedge, and you can have 'different' drinks every night.
Also, tonic contains quinine which apparently will discourage mosquitos (unless I'm wrong about that, but even if I am, GIN).

This is a very good point. Drink more gin (and tonic). Speaking of which, this one is very, very good – Raku Gin.
