Normal shoe size is a UK 9, how do the winter boots from Shim/Spec size up in comparison?

In regular shoes I'm normally an 8.5 - got some MW80's in a 44 and when they wore out I got them in 45 so I could get some thicker socks in. Toasty.

Some more opinions here:

I went a size up with MW80's. Usually wear size 11 with Shimano and other brands, I bought my boots in size 12, ideally I would prefer 11.5, but I do have extra space to wear thicker socks if needed. On their second winter now, still waterproof, very warm and one of my best purchases.

Also tried Diadora, but with Diadora I would have to go 2 sizes up as the ones I had were tiny inside.

I have teh specialized ones in the size above and wear them with seal skins for extra warmth.

They are winter boots so get them a size up as you will still need to have snug socks on as they arent massively warm otherwise, they just keep you dry

my specialized xc shoes have the same sole in the same size as my defrosters, and the defrosters with same socks on feel maybe half a euro size smaller than the xc ones (comps iirc). So I would go up one euro size to use bigger socks: your feet will stay cold if your boots are too tight with big socks on as tight shoes will slow your circulation. That said, shimano always seems a bit smaller to me than specialized for a given size too.
