Can I get some advice and info please?
I'm taking my daughter to this place next week and I was wondering if some kind person local to the area could give me some pointers please?

She want's to get there early so she 9and her mate) can be first in. Is it in an area where two 14 year old girls can be reasonably safe stood outside of for three hours (usual caveats inserted), is there stuff nearby for me (non smoking, non drinking, non drug taking) to do while they're being Divs*, waiting for the doors to open at 7 o'clock, car parking nearby and any late opening coffee shops or are we going to get mugged and die?**

* A person(s) that insists on going to somewhere I don't much like and stand outside a place I don't really want to for hours so they can get to the front of the stage when a black rapping geezer from USA who I don't much like comes on stage.

**Possibly. But not without a good old battle.

Yeah, should be fine, not too far from a bunch of other theatre/venues, and some of the uni buildings so tends to be a fair number of people knocking about... not too sure about coffee places right next to it, but it's 5 mins walk from the main bunch of shops so I'm sure you'll find something open.

You can park literally underneath it in an NCP. It's next to one of the unis, so if the three hours is 4-7 yes they should be fine. Sheffield is a very safe city.

non smoking, non drinking, non drug taking

Can't help with that bit 😉

Poor Sancho, must have had a poor user experience.
There is an Odeon cinema next door, and two theatres over the road, I think the Crucible theatre has a nice cafe, Ms TPT was on a table next to Richard Wilson at lunch a couple of weeks ago.
Hell of a wait while young ones at the gig venue though.
I'd catch a film, the Showroom isn't far from there either.
Car parking close by (below), there may be some concession/discount from the O2 with the NCP?
There is a Star Wars quiz on at the Showroom next week, if on the same day you can join our team.

Bother, MCFC! You can only join our team IF you don't mention the 10-1 against HTFC.

Thank you people. Much appreciated. I'm going to give [s]Reviled[/s] Sheffield the chance to change my opnion of it. Previous experiences have not been good.
I don't think they can get a bus from down town Stockport to Sheffield but thanks anyway Sancho.
Tpt - what a day that was.

Why get there so early? Earlier in the year went to kasabian there. Waltzed in half hour before support. Walked all the way round the venue anti clockwise with the bar on your right. Everyone just piles to the first bar area, by walking round we ended up on rhs of stage, walked onto the main standing area and preceded to watch the gig from the third row of standing! Woman in Witherspoon gave us this tip, I gave it the pffft as we walked in coz it was so busy, but much to her credit she was bang on!!
Oh and it's a busy area so they should be fine! Are they standing btw? Thought it was 16 for standing area, or accompanied by an adult?

They were at Manchester Apollo watching some other American rapping geezer on Tuesday night Wrighty and they got there an hour before doors opening and couldn't see a thing allegedly.
They'll have to age 2 years by next weekend if that's the case 'cos I aint going in with them!

Think you might be going a bit too early. Our girls 16 and 13 have been going to gigs there by themselves for the last year. Usually drop them off about 7.00 and they always manage to get to the front. When we go with them they still manage to push to the front. There is a pay and display car park about 300 mtrs past the place on the same side [much cheaper]. When we pick them up they stay in the cinema foyer and we ring them a couple of mins before we get there and pick them up, directly outside
Its only under 14 need accompanying

BOOM! Tracey's input makes me happy! Thank you :-). They can now sit in a layby on the A57 for three hours instead in leiu of me sitting outside the Academy for my three hours plus show time while I go bike riding.

I think it would depend on the gig really. If it's going to be full of screaming teenage girls there's likely to be more competition for the front spots.

How sharp are their elbows?

J Cole. If it's anything like Tinie Tempah at the M.E.N on Monday and Whizz Kalifer at the Appollo on Tuesday, it will be peroxide blonde early twenties females wearing less than normal sized underwear and nothing else and stilleto shoes trying to stay upright on the arm of a similar or older aged black bloke wearing trousers with the waistband round his hamstrings, a baseball cap about to fall of his head and wearing sunglasses even though it's dark. They both seem to refer to people (and one couple at one point addressed me directly) as **** Boy and Bitch.
My word!
Not sharp elbows at all, sadly. They are a very meek and polite pair of **** Bitches (just keeping up the vibe).

i'd avoid the carpark under the "02 academy" think it is "19" on map below, not only expensive but very hard to get out of when cinemas & 2 x theatres finish and people have had such a good time the part of the brain that deals with tickets and barriers doesn't work

http://en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/arundel_gate_sheffield/

there is on street pay and display around the carpark marked as 1 on the map and carpark 4 is less than 10minutes brisk walk

plenty of bars&eateries passing crucible theatre with it on yr left in norfolk row and then past or thru the winter gardens and in area behind peace gardens about 5 minutes away
(charles street multistorey backs on to this area and is another option)
