I've moved in to a cottage with a stone lean-to attached. So it's stone on three sides and has a rather flimsy door on the front.

I'm replacing the frame and will be reinforcing the door with battens on the rear, attached through the door with coach bolts. I'll then be putting a nice thick sheet of ply over the battens, using the same coach bolts.

In the cavity will be some barbed wire that a friend happens to have. Just in case someone fancies putting a boot through the door.

Sorry I would not be.

A hasp is easily secured. All I now need - and can't seem to find - are some security hinges. I want pins that can't be tapped out and I want at least a couple of square holes for coach bolts.

The interwebs are great for recommending exactly that. But not great for linking to them nor useful at sourcing them.

Before it's recommended, I can't really use a shed security bar due to angles caused by other stonework.

Along with a ground anchor and big f-off motorcycle chain, if anyone can still get the bikes then they're welcome. Then (in theory) I get new replacements. I want to make sure that the insurance company has no excuse to not pay out.

So, has anyone found the unicorn hinges?

They look promising, thanks. From what I can tell, the pins are decoratively flanged so should be safe from being tapped?

Ah, no coach bolt holes on the frame end. I could just put metal plates over the top and bottom I suppose, secured by coach bolts?

It looks to me like there's two shackles folded over each other there? So you could unfold the front half to secure the frame side?

Change the way it swings so the hinges are on the inside and blind.

And fit a couple of gatemate euro locks for good measure.

How about these?

Even if someone gets the hinges off the door stays put.

The hinge bolts look good. I can't change the way the door swings as there's not enough room inside.

I've not seen the Gatemate locks before but I'll definitely be using them.

Thanks all, as usual!

Isn't there a member with the knack of making traps ?

Pressure plate and spring loaded club.....

Actually, I think theres a market for such. Catch the thieves by trapping them in there. Easy to get in, impossible to get out. Much like a humane mouse trap 😀

On the inside of the frame screw the chain to the door and frame that way if they bust the hinges the chain holds the door to stop them getting stuff out

Lock hasps are easily cut by forcing bolt cutters behind them. Use an enclosed cylindrical lock (the type fitted on van doors).
