Evening all.

I have a shed a the end of the garden replete with power supply. This was all in place when we purchased the property. I know the supply is from the ground floor socket circuit and is fitted with an RCD in the shed, however; there appears no be no isolator between the consumer unit and the shed. I'm guessing the supply is spurred off a socket somewhere. The cable appears to be unarmoured and disappears into the dirt. A further complication is a kitchen extension built over where I guess the cable runs.

I'm nervous... How can I locate the connection point or make otherwise safe, I don't really need it.

A bit of digging in the dirt and you should find the entry point into the house?

Or hire a professional mains detector and trace the cable back from the shed.

If you're unsure, get an electrician to locate and disconnect it for you. Odds are it's T'ed of a socket somewhere.

Not worried per se, just don't like the fact there is no isolator in the house without taking every socket out. It has been there many years so hopefully no immediate danger of death.

Then just leave it be.
You don't have to disconnect it just because you aren't using it.

Your best bet is to locate the supply, hopefully for you spurred from a socket, tbh you'll need to bell out the cabling to find this, by removing the sockets and determining where the cables run, once you,ve hopefully identified the supply position install a switched spur -simples

That would be the best plan. The current wooden shed is getting decidedly ropey so I will be looking to replace in the new year with a metal one, ideally sorting out the power at the same time.

I will investigate the sockets, cheers all.
