A short while ago I posted requesting advice regarding a future marriage proposal plan. Big huge thanks to everyone who helped me out there!

Well sure enough on Christmas day, my GF got what she thought was just a card from me. Opened it to be shocked at discovering the two airline tickets with a destination of Finland inside.... Worryingly she was even more shocked when I told her it was for the both of us and not a trip away shopping with one of her girlfriends!

So off we went, snowboards in tow for what she thought was just a few amazing days on the slopes...

Next surprise - She found out on New Years Eve morning that I had booked us on a trip to see the Northern Lights at midnight. Cue many brownie points for me 🙂

Biggest shock, there actually was Norther Lights visible!! Truely amazing spectacle btw

So come midnight under the Aurora and after a big soppy kiss from me, the time arrived... After many, many, many Dutch courages earlier in the evening, I manned up and got down on one knee, the whole schebang doing the shaky handed, croaky voiced most important question of my life "Will you marry me?"

And she said yes!!!!!!!

At that point I thought my life couldn't get any better....

A few seconds after this wonderous revelation, I suddenly very much regretted the Dutch courages taken to get to that point as I proceeded to drop the very expensive ring in a big pile of snow in the dark!!!!!

Future Mrs Peaks saw the funny side and after ten minutes of sifting through snow, I finally placed the ring on her now very numb, turning slightly blue finger and ave her another big now chattery teethed kiss!

What better way to welcome in 2013 🙂

Yeah, cool story and all Bro, but it doesn't exactly help move along the STW "26r vs 29r" argument does it?? 😉

Only kidding! Best wishes to the both of you, and i can't believe you managed to get the aurora on the night in question, we were in Northen Finland for weeks and didn't see it ;-(

Better than my effort.

I bottled it in my wifes favourite restaurant as it was very busy...proposed outside next to the bins.

Thanks guys! And congrats Rusty Mac too!

Still on a bit of a high tbh, glad she said yes - otherwise I'd have looked just a bit of a numpty since most people knew what this trip was all about, phew! Although did get a massive sympathy vote and lots of cups of tea made for me at work yesterday morning when I initially claimed otherwise... Think that's all my free tea tokens gone now though!

Also glad we found the ring otherwise I'd be on the other sales of goods act thread to see if there's any14 day cover against unexpected slippery goods!

Reckon I've earnt enough brownie points for a new bike yet?!
