I've been a Philips/Philishave man for far too long to remember.

Current shaver is starting to die, and I know I could send it off for (another) refurb, but I fancy something new. So obvious choice is one of the new s****y Series 9000 models - thing is they don't offer a bells and whistles option. That's only for sale in other countries for some reason (US). Last time I needed a new head, I went for the latest head, theoretically upgrading my current shaver, and i haven't been enamoured with the shave since.

So I'm tempted to try something different, and hop ship to Braun, the series 7 and 9 shavers look rather nice, and are generally on some sort of discount.

The Braun is a foil shaver, so somewhat different to the rotary I'm used to, and it's been suggested that with a thicker/coarser hair type I should use rotary.

So, throwing it open to the masses for some real world experience of the Series 9000 Philips, or the 7 or 9 series Brauns. Anyone switched from rotary to foil (Philips to Braun) and had an improved/degraded experience?

Whilst I'm at it - anyone use the cleaning systems from either company?

Ta
