Another three weeks without access to my usual stylist (and therefore another £3 still in my pocket). So I've shaved my head again.

A question for those of you who do this on the regular instead of a pandemic expediency: after doing the deed, and after the bleeding stops and your family stops laughing, do you slap on your regular moisturiser (beef dripping, this is Yorkshire) or some special product you heard about in GQ or Men's Health?

I just use a moisturiser with SPF. Normally Bulldog or Mancave as I can’t find any others. If you’re shaving your noggin with a razor I’d recommend buying the below. I’ve been shaving mine for years with no cuts and a very smooth finish using them. Both the blades and the cream last for ages too.

I am also a Yorkshire man so know that beef dripping will do the job. The below are a top combo though. Usually do mine twice a week whilst in the shower. The razor takes a bit of practice, but once you get the hang of it you can shave your head quickly and easily. Much better than clippers in my opinion

I had one of those pit bull skull things and broke it. Wasn’t bad, but not vastly better than some clippers. Awkward around the ears too, but that could be my ears. Also found stray hairs after using it and I hate that. An hour after shaving or at work, touch your head, shit! A small fuzz patch near the crown.

Can’t decide if that looks more like a skidoo, or something from lovehoney!!

Looks mental and I was sceptical but I’m a baldy of over twenty years and it is hands down the best thing if you want a easy, clean scalp shave. No need for a mirror and takes no time at all once you’re used to it. I’ve tried pretty much every type of razor and it’s the best by a fair margin.

That shave lotion isn’t cheap but it lasts for months as you only need a little bit. If you’re not too fussed clippers are a good shout. I just prefer full bald head look. I’d love to be able to remove what’s left permanently if there was a way

I've used a Skullshaver for about a year now and cant fault it, it gets my head as smooth as a razor does and only takes a couple of minutes. Highly recommended

Been using one since last Xmas, clippers with no guard prior. Skull shave in my opinion is great, every couple of days.
But. You can’t really get lazy, 5 days and it’s a bit much for one and need to run a set of clippers over. The skull shave is so much shorter than clippers though. I’d buy another if this one broke.

Which one do you use out of interest? I’ve mainly been using the Bulldog one. Tried the Mancave SPF20 but it’s expensive, has the consistency of sun cream and takes ages to fully soak in

Full head single blade shave and massage is 3 quid out here when the barbers are open, so I normally do that.

Other option I go for at home is a 0000 blade on an Oster 616 with a bit of Nivea for men after.

I've never felt the need for more expensive lotions or potions. As for SPF? It's incredibly sunny here although summer has finally arrived and it's 42degC today... Hat on for the win. If you know you're going to be out in the sun then additional squidge of sun cream. The decathlon one is excellent and non greasy. The head needs a bit of colour anyway!

If your bald SPF of any kind is a great idea. I love a good hat just not every day. The Simple and Bulldog ones aren’t expensive. I don’t want a liver spotted, scrotum head when I’m old so the SPF is staying 😀

Neither, been wet shaving the bonce for about a decade now and never had any reason to use anything other than shaving foam.

Anyway, those bulldog things - are they any better than other rotary shavers? I tried a Gillette one a few years ago and it was utter bobbins. Both blunt and lacking in torque, so I went back to wet shaving sharpish. I do rip through blades though, a less wasteful shaving solution would be nice.

I posted the original skullshaver query up there so still deciding what to do. But.......from the reviews I've read elsewhere they do go blunt, some saying the head needs replacing every 3 or 4 months. And at £23 a head it won't be a saving (cost or environmental) saving over a wet razor blade or 30.
