Who remembers this stirring intro?

^ah yes, some of the prints of the films were pretty shonky and the intro music got more and more warped.

Much more recent but this was genius. Best first 5 minutes of any TV series in history

Old moomins were terrifying! What were they thinking?

I can't think of any other instance of an album where every track on it is the same song.

Every Sigur Ros album

All a bit modern for me. Where's Andy Pandy or Bill and Ben?

This, & what Countzero said. I think I stopped watching kids TV in 1971 when I was 14!

Gosh, you're all so young! In my day it was black and white and the likes of Bill and Ben, The Woodentops, and Andy Pandy.

And that posted underneath my post with programmes going back to 1960!

ahh Press Gang. I'm still got a crush on Julia Sawalha.

I always remember that episode where she was a ghost or something and could influence people's action by whispering in their ears, or did I dream it.

Yep! Me and singletrackmind still do that! 🙂 Amazing how some of these ancient catchphrases and songs stay with you. On the rare occasion I do gardening ... " I'm Bayleaf the gardener, I work from early dawn..." 😀

Gilbert the Alien is still one of my heroes:

His own show 'Gilberts Fridge' was superb (all on Youtube now I think). I used to run home from 6th Form to catch it. It was in a 4pm kids ITV slot but belonged in the Channel 4 post-pub friday night schedule. Basically a 30 minute Phil Cornwell stream of consciousness. I don't think the core kids TV audience really understood sketches where Gilbert tries to sell french impressionist paintings to Dieter Meier.

Around the World With Willy Fog was awesome up until the point they changed the animation style and voices, after which is was never the same again.

The same goes for Dogtanian.

Some could leave quite an indelible mark. There was occasionally some very creepy and challenging drama for children back in the day. Anybody remember:

(Welsh voice) “She wants to be flowers, but you make her owls. You must not complain, then, if she goes hunting.”

?
