I imagine that there is an element on man bites dog. I wouldn’t be surprised if the vast majority of victims of this type of incident are men. I probably think that because I’ve read quite a lot that makes me think that there are a lot of stupid men in the world. Too much time on here maybe 😊

That is an odd inclusion on the face of it and would certainly have been questioned by myself if sub-editing.
I thought the same thing as scotroutes and his further research does appear to back that theory up, but it should really have been explained in the story (if that is the case).
