Haven't left the house since xmas day as my stomach currently reminds me of a tiger (every time it growls, I shit myself).
I've eaten some bread to try and settle it (weirdly the only thing I fancy is curry) and had some dioralyte. Then shat myself in the shower.
I've had to cancel going to the rugby and another day spent indoors doesn't sound great.
Tips and recs greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Title amended.

I've had food poisoning / campylobacter infection for 2 weeks. My advice is eat only very very plain food, minimal fat, no alcohol, dairy or caffeine. Lots of water. I've eaten mainly bananas, fig rolls and toast.
All because of a chicken pastie.
Its put a right dampner on Christmas.. I've got 2 weeks off and haven't got the energy to ride a bike.

Do not eat curry.

3/4 pint of water with a heaped table spoon of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda).

Tastes a bit grim but if you down it in one it's ok.

Stop messing around; go and see your GP tomorrow morning and ask for a course of Xifaxanta. The diarrhoea will stop soon after the first tablet.

I carry these on business trips to Africa when I can't afford to be staying cloe to the toilet.

If you can't persuade the GP to give you these, stop ALL dairy products, take Lomotil (buy it OTC) and rehydration salts. With luck you'll starve out the bug.

Err... That wouldn't be very helpful for most UK acquired infective causes of diarrhea, and your advice ain't what we do these days.

Might have worked for you, but anecdote isn't evidence

🙁 But it's a free pass!
All I ate yesterday was a few chips but I had toast this morning. Drinking Redbush tea and water.

Flat coca-cola +1, full fat, real stuff not Pepsi or supermarket copy. G/f was recommended it, whilst in India with a upset tummy, she swears by it

My boss, who has been travelling on business in Third World countries for about 35 years, longer than my 30 years, came back from the Philippines with a bad gut infection. His GP refused to give him anything for it and kept taking stool samples, in which nothing could be found so the misery continued for three weeks. I urged him to see a different GP; he did and was given Xifaxanta and the problem resolved itself immediately.

Sounds like a pretty good anecdote to me.
